The shooting death of a Hutchinson doctor has become a murder-suicide. Searchers found Jean Stafford's body at a Reno County country club Wednesday afternoon. She died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Just after 9:00pm Tuesday, police believe Dr. Robert Stafford was shot in the chest by his wife. That happened in a clinic next door to the Hutchinson Hospital, where Dr. Stafford had an office. Dr. Stafford later died at the hospital.
Police spent the day looking for Jean Stafford and her car. They found her car at the Highland Country Club, then discovered her body a short time later.
