A Wichita father says his wife simply forgot when she left their 11-day-old child in a van at an East Wichita parking lot. Police found the boy Sunday afternoon. He'd been in the van close to an hour and a half.

The baby's father says the mother did not mean to leave the baby in the car while she went to shop, she simply forgot the baby was with her. No charges have been filed against the mother. The investigation continues.

"We are working jointly with SRS and hopefully we'll get things wrapped up this week so we can get things presented to the DA's office the first part of next week," said Lt. Roy Mitchell of the exploited and missing children's unit.

The baby is in good condition and will remain in protective custody at least until Tuesday.
