Old Town opens its newest attraction to rave reviews. The new Old Town movie theatre opened to the public on Friday.
Many people say this is exactly what Old Town needed, a base attraction. Owners of shops like the Old Town General Store and restaurants like Zyng Noodlery say it will help their business.
Old Town General Store owner Patricia Henry says, "It needed something beside clubs, bars and restaurants, so that's the added attraction."
Managers at Zyng Noodlery say day business has been great since they opened three months ago. With the new theatre next door, things can only get better.
Restaurant manager Garret Worthinggon says, "I think that will give us a lot of night business compared to what we had."
Old Town Development official Basil Dannebohm says, "There are a lot of bids up for new buildings. From what I know many will be moving in very soon."
The $11.3 million theatre has all the main attractions, and the movies are an added bonus for many people. The theatre is unlike any other in Wichita. Inside, you will find a sports bar and grill with the world's largest sports screen, a bar and wait staff, which will cater to all your movie needs. And because there's a bar, after 8 p.m. you have to be at least 21 to get in. That's a plus for many people.
Moviegoer Jay Smith says, "It's a little more convenient, you don't have to drive clear across town to see a movie."
Moviegoer Pam Hanson says, "I think it will be nice for people who are couples and you don't have to worry about kids making noise."
Another plus for many people; the restaurant is open until 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, serving breakfast.
The theatre also has the capability to host meetings and other corporate related events.
