One of the people injured in a crash in Reno County Wednesday has died from his injuries.

The accident happened on K61 Highway near Lake Cable Rd.

86-year-old Norman Abrahams of North Newton died from his injuries.
Ethel Abrahams is in fair condition, as is Barbara Friesen. 87-year-old Winifred Ewy is in critical condition. The driver, Lester Ewy, has been released from the hospital.

KHP troopers say a passenger car carrying the people crossed into the path of the semi on the highway. The car was broadsided. The truck driver was not injured.

K61 reopened at 4:30 p.m., nearly three hours after the accident happened.

Tony...What does you retiring have to do with this bad accident. Kudos to you for retiring and whatever you plan to do with your life. Sitting on your front porch drinking beer....doesn't have anything to do with this!

Well Tony...I HOPE you stay off the roads for sure if your a "beer" drinker. Wouldn't want a rerun of the older guy hitting the mom and girl and killing them! These people had to be somewhere. They have had lots of years of driving and accidents happen to anyone.

This another reason why old people should not be allowed to drive. Why where they even out old people should just stay at home. When i get to be 53 in 5 years i will just be sitting on my front porch drinking a beer and waving at those going by heading to work while my retirement check keeps coming in every month. Yep retirment after 30 years of Military service i will be enjoying life to the fullest. And not ever leaving my house you got love that.

b....as a friend of the man who has lost his life, I am saddened by your lack of respect and question your social abilities. Are you really so brazen that you would say that phrase a funeral, or are you only brave and mouthy behind a keyboard? If you wouldn't say it then, don't say it now. Have a little respect for the many families torn apart and remember this: Accidents can happen to anyone....I hope you never find this out personally.

I am sorry to hear that the crash has turned out to be deadly. However, I don't see how anyone made it out alive by looking at the pictures of the car. Lets just hope the others make a full recovery.

"b" how un-appropriate was your comment. And "Jw" its people like you that sue these people that are in these terrible accidents and make us, [the people who work for a living instead of sueing for a living] end up paying more in insurance premiums so you can have your easy money! I feel sorry for you. This was an unfortunate accident, and the people are older and that reinforces why I feel maybe when people get older in their 80's maybe they should have to take driver tests yearly to get their licence.

Looking at the pictures....How did they survive?

that's what you get when you take the right of way that isn't yours especially in front of a semi.
