can you attempt to get a grip on crime, stabbings, daily shootings before you think of bringing more dangerous activities?? i mean seriously people are scared to go to any club in wichita because it is a DAILY occurance, there was what more than a month straight that this happened every weekend at a club. Also not to mention it is ok to promote drinking for kids, can we find something that is fun that dosnt include drinking and drugs.. maybe we need a new group to help our lacking mayor find new bright ideas.
Big waste of money! Wichita is a conservative place and always will be. Most of the citizens of Wichita watches every dime they spend. Arena is going to be a big waste of money. The arena in KC is cheaper than ours, it holds more people, and both arena was schedule to start construction at the same time and yet theirs is already done and where is ours? Big waste of my tax dollars.
I would much rather see jobs come to the city than a area where we all can walk around drinking. Why not the casino? At least there would have been good entertainment right here in the city, oh and it would of created jobs cause someone has to run it, but that wasnt a good idea!!

i thought that was what the river walk was gonna be and we see how far it has gone....i thought old town was the entertainment district already.....this jus sounds like another was to add the sells tax increase like the city did for the downtown arena which isnt much bigger than the colisiem.....city leaders.....grow up!!! and no we will never have a football or basketball team in this town.....wichita is not big enough or will they support it...people are too interested in gettinginot to huge debt and working 7 days a week in aircraft and then being mad at the company becayse they have to
Its is a stupid idea put alcohol out in open and let people walk around ,drinking,when the people of wichita voted down gambling in city,at least a nice hotel,and gamling casino on river bank could have brought in lots of money ,so the property taxes could have been lowered and now you want let people drink out in the open ,now really use your heads for once in this city
Alan from Clearwater maybe you should stay in clearwater on the weekends. I frequent old town often and have never once seen a DUI check point there, other places yes. Only newbie drinkers like yourself get caught or you just cant handle your alcohol. Plus Wichita can NOT support entertainment area's like OKC and KC
Its amazing the morons in Wichita. It would be nice to see something like this in this god forsaken town but there are the morons that have nothing good to say about something that would be nice for this city.

People don't go to Old Town on weekends, because of all the police check-points. Rein in the WPD, and you just might have better entertainment downtown. Stop trying to make city revenue based on DUI's.

A Red Light District? I thought that was illegal. I guess if it revitalized downtown and filled the city's coffers it would be deemed ok.
