lolerz, what do you mean, boeing didnt outsource? they gave the modification center to china from wichita, they gave the major work on the 777 to japan, and other things before the sale to spirit. the modification center was called a bid, but wichita had no chance, not included in the chinese bid was the packing of every desk, drill, shelve, and part and sending to china at boeings expense. if that was included in the "bid" then wichita would still have the work.
If/when you ever meet me in person and decide then that I am a twit, then you can call me one. But it's hardly fair to call people names until you meet them. I am glad for you that you don't live beyond your means. We don't either. Our house probably cost less than yours, we do not have car payments and don't ask other people to pay our bills. We do give to different charities and to our local schools as well. My husband does not work overtime because we don't depend on it for survival. I agree completely with you that parents do need to cut out the frivolous crap with their kids. Kids don't have to get everything that they want and ours never have. We take nice vacations every couple of years with our kids so that we can share that time with them. There are workers that are exactly like you described. But when you refer to the "twit" make sure you know my lifestyle before you judge me.
Boeing sold what spirit ownes to spirit, because of some naughty naughty thinngs they did isnt that correct?? They didn't outsource, they sold what they needed to to keep afloat you twit. I for one am enjoying the time boeing gave us at spirti off. I did the smart thing and saved my money, and didnt live beyond my means with a new house that i shouldnt have qualified for, and new car, truck, boat and bike that i dont need. I have no simpathy for those that are struggling because they bout a 150,000 dollar house when they could have bout one a tad bit less flashy for half of that. To the ones that have kids they need to feed, try cutting out on all the frivilous crap, and get the priorities inline damn it. You will be the kind of person that we all pay for in the future because you ran youre retiremnet out on vacation to the bahamas with in the first 10 years. I'll laugh at you all while sittin in my sunroom of my hand built cabin in the country enjoying what I made of my life.
I do have a say in my benefits & I also say---THE BOEING WORKERS ARE GREEDY!!! They didn't care that the Spirit workers had to take a cut in working hours and they still won't have a full work week for at least two more months. MEANWHILE THE GREEDY WORKERS GO BACK TO A FULL WORK WEEK. Maybe they should have to help support the Spirit workers so they can have food to put on the table for their famalies and so their kids can have Xmas. I'll bet that the GREEDY BOEING WORKERS DON'T GIVE AT XMAS TIME TO THE UNFORTUNATE. Yes I know people who work at Boeing who say that they never give to help others while they themselves have what they want. I CALL THAT GREEDY AND YES I HAVE TOLD THEM SO.
To 737 Line: You really have forgotten what it was like to work for Boeing haven't you? If the company hadn't sold you out you would have been on strike too. And if your current management would get other customers besides Boeing you wouldn't have this probelm. So if you go on strike in 2 years is it going to be okay for the Boeing workers and the rest of the people in the area to call you greedy, whiny cry babies too? Everyone keeps saying that what goes around comes around. That works two ways you know. It's unfortunate that other workers go caught up in this and this next comment will make you mad as well. But this strike was not about Spirit. It was about the Boeing workers and the company. Boeing outsourced to Spirit. Don't forget that part.
just look at all those posts calling workers greedy, poor whiney jelous people. get a job where you can have a say in your benifits, not just have to depend on your boss for whatever handouts they let you have.
by lae, if the engineers strike, as a small union, they cant picket all the gates, after a coupl of days, they will have to picket at only one gate, wherever the company says. planes can still be built without office personell nad engineers.
Dont forget...We still have to worry about the BOEING Engineers going on strike...so Spirit is not out of harms way yet
I do think they are being greedy at Boeing. I think the union is being greedy as well. I think they should all be thankful they have jobs with the shape the economy is in and be thankful they have roofs over their heads and food on their tables. There are people who would love to have a job....no matter the pay. As for the people at Spirit, they have had to cut their hours and wonder if they will have a job because of them. That isn't right. When Boeing goes on strike, it hurts other companies and people. Something that I don't think that they stop and think about. I'm glad it is over for now. People at Spirit, I hope your day will come and you will be rewarded for the hard work that you do to make Boeing look good.
Billie, proud union supporter--everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just so happens that the one stating YOU ARE GREEDY, didn't agree with you. YOU ARE GREEDY!! To all the spirit workers keep your chins up and keep working--THE GREEDY ONES WILL GET THEIRS, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. Then they will be crying because someone who was willing to work got their jobs.
thank you for voting yes to the contract its about damn time.now us spirit workers can now tell our kids christmas will come the first of feb. i guess the light is finally trying to shine. lets pray nothing happen to our economy no more so we trained professionals can return to at least 5day work weeks. I hope boeing enjoys there wage increase and there BIG bonus that us spirit workers deserve to have also. WE BUILD YOUR PLANES FOR LESS>>> AND ARE TREATED LIKE DIRT> WHEN YOU FLY ON BOEING AIRCRAFT>>> THINK WHOS BUILDING THAT PLANE>> THATS RIGHT SPIRIT>>>> and we are under paid and just grateful to have jobs in this troubling time. MAYBE IN 2010 we too will get a bonus that we deserve and atleast a raise. BUT don't think we are as big as CRYBABIES>>>> we just want work.......
Thank god that's finally over, now only 2 more months of 3 day work weeks for spirit!
Thank goodness! I'm so sick of listening to a bunch of uneducated, overpaid, whiny crybabies.
Machinist in Wichita ready go to work.enought. No more on strike. Please.
The union workers are not being greedy, just asking for what they darn well deserve. Unless you really understand what is going on with the union and company, keep out of it. Proud union SUPPORTER!
