School Plot

A Salina middle school student is held on a felony charge after police discovered an apparent plan to shoot other students.

Investigators say another student at Salina South Middle School saw the plan in the boy's notebook yesterday. He told a teacher. And the teacher then notified the school resource officer.

Police arrived and arrested the boy.

Lieutenant Mike Sweeney says the boy's notes included detailed plans of killing other people, and indicated he was looking to recruit others to help.

He's in the Saline county Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of making criminal threats.

Police say they found no weapons in a search of the boy's locker and home. Sweeney says they had to treat the threat as if it were a real plan.
