After making a million-dollar mistake, the Chief Financial Officer of a Great Bend hospital has resigned.
Central Kansas Medical Center president Tom Sommers says Judy Scott's office underestimated cash reserves needed to cover shortfalls by $1.6 million. The money would have covered shortfalls in reimbursements to the hospital from Medicare and Medicaid.
Sommers says there will be a minimal impact on hospital services. The hospital has spent the last ten days looking for ways to cut costs.
Thomas Burke of the American Health Care Association says the Medicare and Medicaid payments are often unpredictable.
Scott's resignation is effective May 17th.
