Mother & Daughter Killed In Train-Car Crash Identified
Two people were killed in a train accident northeast of Augusta Saturday night near SW 70th and Purity Springs Rd.

Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy confirms that two people were killed Saturday evening after their car was struck by a train northeast of Augusta.

The accident happened on private property near SW 60th Street and Purity Springs Rd. Murphy says the tracks in that area actually cross the property owner's driveway.

Murphy says there were four people in the car when it became stuck on the tracks. 15 year-old Dylan Bilson was driving his new 1996 Ford Probe.

Murphy says the young man tried pushing the car, but it wouldn't budge. When it became apparent that they were not going to be able to get the car off the tracks and out of the way of an oncoming train, Dylan jumped out and pulled his 7 year-old sister, Abigail to safety.

Molissa Bilson, 36, and Molly Bilson, 3, were unable to escape the car in time. The train struck the car, killing both of them.

The eldest daughter and her father, David Bilson were at home at the time of the accident.

Murphy also says there is a "STOP" sign before the tracks as well as a crossing warning. The car did stop at the sign, but he says they continued because they thought there was plenty of time to cross before the trains arrival.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 Thursday morning at El Dorado's First Christian Church.

An education fund is set up for Bilson's surviving children. Carlson Funeral Home of El Dorado is handling the fund. Checks can be made to David Bilson, with a footnote at the bottom of the check that the money be put towards the children's education fund.
