A total of 15 watercraft have been damaged or destroyed after a huge fire at the Wilson Lake Marina in Russell County Wednesday. Russell County dispatchers said the fire was reported at 12:18 p.m.
A total of 11 house boats, 2 sailboats, 1 pontoon, and 1 cruiser were among those affected. The fire started on one of the boats and quickly spread. Investigators do not know what started the fire.
The Kansas State Fire Marshal has been called in to assist and should arrive on-scene Thursday morning.
Early estimates place the damage at more than $1 million, according to the Russell County Emergency Management Director.
