I was and still am a very clode friend with Greg and the family. This was an ACCIDENT. he checked the chamber and didn't see a bullet. We miss him so much. And wish that this would have never happened. He loved Alicia and Aiden and was so excited about Acillia. I just can't believe he's gone. This is a very hard time for family and friends so keep your rude and ignorant comments to yourself. R.I.P Gregory. We miss you so much more as days go by. I wish you were still here bein your silly self. We love ya. Alica needs you and Aiden misses his daddy!
Make no mistake, sympathy is not an issue nor is money. Those children will be taken care of regardless of any financial help. For someone to be so cold and callous in a situation like this is unfathomable. It is about a gun and how easy it is to get one is disturbing. Dont speak on the subject if you have not walked a mile in the family's shoes. We are all in a lot of pain and definately dont need the condescending and patronizing comments of an individual you would like to pretend they know anything about the situation. I believe I may speak in behalf of the family when I say YOUR sympathy is not needed, "Kathy". So please carry on living your life and leave our love ones out of your morbid altruistic thoughts.
I am a member of this family and i speak for everyone when i say..THIS WAS A ACCIDENT! Gregory checked the gun, and let the bullets fall from the clip before doing anything. His fiance swore she saw all those bullets were out of the gun. It was a tragic mistake that one was left in the chamber. Greg had been around guns his whole life, and made a mistake this one time. How many times have you gone through your life and made a mistake? Even with things you were familar with? Were all human. We cant lash out at this young man and his family for a mistake. Instead we need to send our prayers to them, so god can be with them and comfort them in there time of need. Were all thankful that Aiden wasnt in the home at the time of the shooting. He was being kept overnight with a family member. Gregory would be here today if he could be. He was so excited for the birth of his baby girl and Aiden was everything to him. Please just pray for peace to be with them and for healing in time of grief!

Such a tragedy. He was showing her how to clean the gun, and it accidentally fired? Maybe he should have showed her how to make sure the gun was NOT LOADED! You ALWAYS treat any firearm as though it is loaded, not pointing it at anyone! That is the first thing I was taught in the Hunter's Safety course.
God bless this family..this is tragic accident...may the family always keep their memories of him alive for his son and unborn daughter.
If you have been around guns all your life.....rule of thumb, no gun is empty until it is empty. Personally this is not newsworthy to me. It is an attempt to garner sympathy from gun owners and gun haters for this memorial. Make no mistake I do feel sorry for the family, but if the word gun was not involved no one would even be listening.
This is horrible. I know everyone is asking why wasnt the gun checked to make sure there was no bullets in the chamber? First step always. Regardless, my thoughts are with the family.
I don't know Gregory or the family, but I am very sorry for this tragic loss of a young man so full of life. I know someone who suffered a similar situation. He was trying to protect a little boy from a drunken father-showing mom and child how to use the handgun and it went off killing the little boy my friend loved. My friend hasn't been the same since. People need to be very cautious with guns as this family states. Sometimes even the most highly trained professionals, and the best trained in hunting courses-as my friend was- make costly mistakes and lives are taken. I'm all for having the right to bear arms, but just be safe so that no one is hurt, please.
First rule of gun safety is to treat all guns as if they are loaded. Second rule is to never point a gun at anyone, including yourself. Sorry to hear that a young family man did not follow these two simple rules.
