Kansas regulators have taken a step toward revoking the licenses for three now-closed dog and horse racing parks.

The Racing and Gaming Commission's action was prompted by the decision of The Woodlands in Kansas City, Kan., to close Aug. 23.

The commission has voted unanimously to tell The Woodlands' operators that they have breached the terms of their licenses and give them 30 days to respond.

The commission noted the licenses require The Woodlands' dog and horse tracks to run races.

The commission also voted to send similar notices to the operators of Wichita Greyhound Park, which closed last year, and Camptown Greyhound Park, outside Pittsburg, which has been closed since 2000.

Hearings on those licenses are set for Oct. 13 and 14.
