okay here's the true story derby high staff members had found a note on the white board in the locker rooms that said there were bombs in the school after looking they found 6 suspicous objects...which turned out to be 6 pipe bombs. But the district does'nt want to let that litte tid bit out...oops. And get this, in another classroom on the white board..there was a message that said this was just a test and that the real thing would happen on friday. But we still went to school the next day i dont know why there trying to hide this stuff from us but this i do know i'm still alive nothing blew up and DERBY is gonna kill campus on friday green is magic

Why dosnt the derby school districe offer an open house tour of the high school, any bomb damage should be still aparent. that should stop or confirm the rumors.

pipe bombs were the imagination of kids? when i went to school there was no more then 500 kids there. only students who like school and wanted to be there were there. You pretty much had a easy choice to get outta class being that everybody said it was off for the day.

i was told of pipe bombs by a teacher. not students. i had absoulutly no students say anything of a pipe bomb to me. and why were the cops telling me and my freinds to go home, yet they refused to let me leave the campus? can the school just get ONE story straight rather then telling 5 or 6 to teachers to confuse everybody. i wanted to leave school because i do not trust the schools jugment. not because i thought bombs were everywhere! this was handled horribly and it was exactly the same with the gas leak and the lock-in a few years ago.

i am a student in derby and as i "entered" the school at about 8:45 (i was refused enter otherwise) they were STILL refusing to let students enter the "G" hall. Is that relly the sound of a dedicated school? i was told over 5 differnt stories by TEACHERS,(fellow classmates are not a good source of information) and i am still wondering if this is accurate being that there is allready flaws from the article. We were NEVER evacuated, Derby has been hiding many things for the past few years. Just ask your children about the GAS LEAK that was denied by the administration yet mutiple students got sick over. Derby has been hiding many things over the years and this bomb threat may be a fight with the new set rules they have been deployed each year. either way i feel like i deserve a resonable expanation other than"a guy broke in and wrote some stuff on the walls"

anonomyous, that grammar is "texting" a shorthand kids use to look cool and try to hide meaning from teachers and parents who se them with their cell phones. I hope the schools do not allow them to se that kind of grammar in english class.

Conspiracy theorists, those with active imaginations, Principal haters, settle down! Pipe bomb rumors are the creation of students who wanted out of school today. No one was in danger in Derby. Though the district did an EXTREMELY poor job of communicating, there really was nothing to cover up, because there were no bombs. Nothing was found nor will be. Administration and the DPD did what they had to do to ensure the safety of our children by delaying the start of school until the building was confirmed safe. Nothing to cover up, just poor communication by our administration.

Steph your grammar is just as pathetic. This is WHY you need to attend school

If the idiots that call in these threats hate school so much, then just drop out! Calling in a bomb threat is just down right ignorant!

Janna why is it that you would be asking that question of vanessa? do you know her kinda sounds fishy to me how you put it! how would you know and whats the concern with it?

Vanessa, it seems to me like you need to actually go to school. Your grammar is horrendous

Well it sure is interesting that all 3 schools(Derby, Mulvane, and Winfield) had a bomb threat (guess someone thinks its funny) What a jerk to put it mildly! I too am disapointed with the NEWS the only station I saw reporting on it half way was Channel 12.Couldn't find anything on Channel 3 or 10 they weren't reporting anything on Derby or Mulvane I have family that goes to both, Im just glad it wasn't real and the kids are safe but found out from another source that Winfield got a threat too and they sent everyone home and are waiting on search dogs from Topeka so my question is how come Derby or Mulvane didn't have any search dogs come to the schools? And how come the items found at the Derby school were not reported, and why were the kids let back in the school knowing that items were found?
