Organizers with Wichita Festivals are reporting record attendance at last weekend's Wichita Flight Festival.

"The weather was beautiful all weekend long, and that really helped with attendance," said Janet Wright, President/CEO Wichita Festivals, Inc. "The line-up of entertainment from the Friday night concert to the air-show also proved to be a hit."

The Wichita Flight Festival saw 10,000 people from Wichita and the surrounding areas attend the three-day event celebrating the past, present and future of aviation in Wichita, the Air Capitol of the World.

The AirCap 200 Air Race was a new component to the Festival this year. There were 18 racers, each flying-in from all parts of the US including New Mexico, Florida, Texas, Missouri and Kansas. The Top Prop Handicap Award was awarded to Chester Jurskis, Dallas, Texas; and the Top Prop Performance Award was awarded to Dr. Duncan and Carolyn Sutherland, Alto, New Mexico. The Festival's Kansas Aviation Gallery hosted a trivia contest with an award of two round-trip AirTran Airways tickets. Winners are Patrick Ferguson, Cheney, KS and Tom Rouse, Hutchinson, KS.

The Friday - Sunday Spirit AeroSystems air-shows featured nationally- known performers Kent Pietsch, American Acrobatics' Julie Clark, Greg Shelton & wing-walker Ashley Battles, Patty Wagstaff, Red Eagle Air Sports, J.W. "Corkey" Fornof, the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team, John Mohr, Bill Stein. The highlight of each day's show was an F-15 E Strike Eagle demonstration.
