A good contract would have lower medical costs especially in the prescription area. I have one prescription that costs $24.00 so what does the insurance company pay? $4.00. I want more retirement pay and time and a half after 8 hours. To top it off a sign on bonus even if it was just 100.

guys....the ones that say this contract stinks...what to you would be a good contract??? i mena i hear moaning and groaning but i have yet to hear anyone say anything that is reasonible... i men for the 4000 line doesnt everyone want a black berry or an ipod... i mean i hear..cessna got a signing bonus...well go to work there..they are hiring..i think you will find they wont put up with your bull there like the do at hbc...

Union Members are like lemmings!! I would've stood up and fought for conditions in plant 1 if i was union; Show me where and when the old timers even give a rats arse about new hires? they don't. they don't want to help anyone. Who was the one asleep in the plane when Mr. Nguyen was walking through the plant (a union member? probably)

ok ok...so basically it is the same contract that they were under before but with a raise and a little more pension? The ETO is the same, the work week got changed but not really for the better???? Ok am I reading this right?? So you guys lost about 4000 bucks and one human life and all you got was the same contract of 3 years ago with a raise and very little changes in your benefits? Who is leading you?? Does Steve Rooney and those guys and gals sit on the line with you? Do they call this a victory? You say its so the company sees if they takeaway you will stand together but you just showed them that they don't have to give on much and you will vote in crap for crap!! WOW I am disappointed in the union, well the ones taking your dues and leading you into BS! I also saw the bags of groceries at a family members house, after all you put in your only worth 2 bags of junk from Dillons? That will not feed a family! WOW

You can't expect to get a very good contract with a bunch of weak minded people crossing the picket line. I congratulate the strikers for sticking it out and making improvements. Worthless scabs would still complain even if you got them a bonus, so pay them no mind.

I am tired of people using the phrase SCAB. Union members you have no clue why some of the people croseed the picket lines. I am not saying that the non union member were all angels in this. Some of them probably yelled names and comments back, but not all of them did. And the union members that have posted on here and on the Kansas.com website about how all the SCABS are going to have to deal with upset union members when the strike is over need to remember one thing. It goes both ways. Some of you have done nothing but call them names, take their pictures, and post them on a 'Wall of Shame'. There will also be anger towards the Union members when you return to work. So remember you reap what you sow.

You know what is really funny you union people. You guys haven't said one thing about all the jobs that are going to Mexico. I would think that would be a little bit more important than insurance or ETO. Wait until you come back and see all the jobs that are leaving and the ones that have already left while you have been out. Way to go Union you guys are in for a big suprise when you see all thats leaving.

I am sure that you're are going to be bashed by die hards that veiw anyone trying to open their eyes as evil, unamericans scrabs. It is so sad to see that one of the last hopes for the Honest Hardworking average Joe, is no longer there. As hard as it is for Union members of todays Union to believe, trying to get them to look at their leadership,is not bashing the Union. This Union has definately lost it direction, & forgotten it's purpose. Yes I am bashing the Union Leadership, not the membership. You are the victims in all of this. As hard as it for most to face, you are truly the losers in this whole thing. You can come back to work & release all of that anger on those who crossed the line, but they are not responsible for what you end up with for a contract. Instead all that anger needs to be about replacing Union Leadership & rebuilding, focused onwhat a Union was meant to be.

I would bet the majority, oh there are a few disgruntled members, of those complaining about the lack of a bonus are those inside who crossed. Also known as "Freeloaders" They refuse to pay their share of the Union Dues, but when they get into a fix they cry for the Union steward. I know of several non-union workers who stayed out, Kudos to them, the rest of you freeloders, kiss my ^%$##!

If the Union had membership (the ones that are still outside the fence and can vote) had a hair on their...well you know...they would vote this one down too and really get back to what Unions were 30 years ago. Fight for the conditions in Plant I, fight for a signing bonus to make up for the approximatly three ger they lost, fight for the middle aged, not those who are yet to come and those almost out the door. Vote it downand do it right this time, no more name calling, no more childish games, no more asinine rallies at 4:30am. Don't they the union leadership lead you around by the...well you know, judge for yourself, do it for your families, friends, and fellow Union Brothers and Sisters...

Hey all you Union members, I just wanted to say thank you, for "fighting" for a better contract. In making sure you got a good deal for all you old times and the future hires, you forgot about me and everyone else with less than a year, you cost me 2 days off this year and 8 over the four after that. So much for solidarity, thanks alo0t

My fault, you did lose a couple things. You get to work 10 and 12 hour shifts instead of 8. and not get payed OT for the extra 2 to 4 hours. With one day off a week, which may or may not be a weekend day. (day of the week for day off not specified in the contract). Oh you lost on vacation too. First offer 4 weeks after 190 months consecutive work (2 months less than 16 years), new contract offer, 4 weeks after 18 years. I have seen some posts showing that some of the union membership has read the contract and understood those losses. Some even realize it is the Same contract as the last 3 years, but not many. A good Union Negotiator would have seen through this scam weeks ago. I wish you luck in 3 years, my advice, get better negotiators.

I have read this stuff for nearly a month now and I have tried to stay out but I feel sorry for the Union. You got played by the company! I was a company negotiator for a Union shop in Texas in a passed life. The company waits and watches, then offers a bunch of Takeaways, as you call them. The union fights, sometimes strikes, and gets the takeaways back in. You have the SAME ETO, the SAME insurance, the SAME OT rules. You have the SAME contract. You gained nothing, and you lost nothing (except 4 weeks pay). The company was HAPPY with the last contract, so I hope you liked it, cuz it is the same one you had the last 3 years. The union wanted a strike, they got one, the company wanted to raise hate and discontent among the union with line crossers, they got it. Unions used to be strong, in my day it was a challenge to fool them. HBC did not even have to work hard at it. Congrats on a spectacular debacle that cost one life. A rally at 4:30am? Why not 4~5pm w/news crews?

It seems all the scabs are posting things like they are scared about us real workers returning to work.We will not use violence or say things to you, it will be just the opposite we will not say anything to you and if you ask us for help you will not get a response..........You not only crossed the line but you keep typing things that are not true, I am worried about you at work because I don't like being around people I can't trust, and you can't trust scabs......Keep saying your not in the union because you are a good worker, but I know from experience that you scabs come to the union for help when you get fired or your job is in jeopardy.Worthless scabs doing what you do best running your mouths and not working....

I never said anything about attacking a scab. The best way to deal with one is not even respond when they need help that will really bother them. I won't use violence nor will anyone else. But we won't help you scabs out either so stop freaking out thinking we are going to harm you because we don't sink as low as you scabs..The scabs in my area sleep on the job and don't take their job serious, so we all know who the real workers are....So run and tell your manager that you have been harassed and see what he does...lol You are running scared for no reason this strike just showed your true colors.

The reason we fought for the new hires ETO is that in 3 years they would have gone for the senior workers 10 days, andin the next contract they would have tried to eliminate it all together! That is how the system works, you build on each contract ot improve life for the future, not go back to the past!

Does anyone realize it cost you over $4000 in 1 month to save $2000 on insurance over 3 years? And the new hires, they could have had 5 days ETO right off the bat instead of 3, now it will take 3 years before they get 5. You could have fought for the 10 days of ETO on next contract. But the UNION is claiming "Victory!".......WHATTHE@&*$EVER!! Who's runnin' this UNION thing anyway??? No wonder I got out.

Wanna know one reason why non-union scabs aren't afraid to stand up for ourselves? We're not in the union because we know we're good workers who don't need to depend on a union to keep our jobs. We go to work and work hard at our job, so we don't have to worry about asking the union to help keep us from getting fired. I personaly walk the picket line becouse of how I felt about the contract. I was there to show the company. I have no disrespect for anyone who crossed the line to go to work.You did what you felt was right for you. And I wont have a problem working with you when we come back. The bottom line is we work at HBC to build the best airplanes not to have wars with one another. I respect what you did just respect what I did. i am tired of the threatens to you all are calling scabs...i think you are misusing the term...scab is someone who didnt have a job so they came in and worked ..this didnt happen these were people that already had jobs and chose not to honor the strike ..in a right to work state... as for me...like i said once and ill state it again..everyone had their reason to cross.....if you were my frined before the strike ...we are still friends....but this is a warning to everyone..... i would advise the strikers to behave a lil when you get back in..the strike is over...you already held the comapny up a month. so i would tread lightly about threatening anyone ....and the last time i drove by and last night when i walked the picket line...i believe the sign out front sez hawker beechcraft and not IAM...so i take it that once you go back in..your in the house of hawker beech craft....it may be the house that IAM built but hawker owns the house..!!

This new contract should have been offered the firs time around! It is a basic no frills contract with no take-aways. No more no less. We basically fought to get a neutral contract.

It's not the non-union members that bother me, its the union members that crossed the very first week of the strike. Here before the strike they are running there mouth and marching for better eveything and being pro-union and THEN the very first week they go back to work. Those are the SCABS! Can't stand them, WEAK!!!!!!! NO self dignity and they will turn on anyone. Can't be trusted!!!!! Everyone watch out!

HBC Wife -- I don't think it's accurate to say that a "brother" died for the strike. He died in large part because the Union scheduled a rally during the early morning hours when it is dark. (It's pretty easy to find sunrise times in the paper or on the internet). You have to wonder about that, since there wasn't even anyone from management at work yet, to appreciate the big display of strength. Very bad planning, and no regard for the safety of its members.

Turning radios up or talking on phones when they face the strikers every morning has NOTHING to do with lack of confidence or self respect! Would it be better if they yelled and hurled insults back at the strikers? The fact that they are able to take the abuse showered on them without retaliation shows that they are much more mature and self-assured than most of the strikers. Union members have a right to strike, but everyone has the right to choose to work. As Americans, we are entitled to our OWN OPINIONS! I do not agree with the strike, but I realize that it is YOUR right, YOUR choice, and I don't judge you for that. The open hostility of the strikers towards those that DON'T SHARE THEIR OPINIONS, however, is deeply disappointing. It is one thing to "stand up for what you believe", but entirely another to harrass and bully those with different beliefs. I would be horrified if my CHILD behaved as badly. How happy all the "scabs" are that they crossed the lines is ot true. It killed my husband to have to cross those lines but he was not left with many more choices. Crossing a fellow union member was never in his plans but me getting very sick was not either and we are not talking just a cold. So before some of you go back to work as big bad sheriff maybe you should stop take two minutes and find the true "scabs" and the workers that went back for the sake of somebody that they love. It was not easy for him to cross but now that everybody is happy why make things worse. I would like to think that we are all adults and could act a little bigger but maybe I am wrong.

Certain unpleasant scabs might find themselves out of a job this if the strikers vote yes on the contract. One guy in tooling said he would cross day one and he did. Well buddy the company finally has a way to get rid of you. No contract so poof you're gone and no union to back you up and the union will NEVER back you up again. Seems to me that mainly certain unpleasant people crossed the line. I hope you're gone when our brothers and sisters go back to work. But on the other hand feel sorry for those who had to cross. Single parents and those for medical reasons.

ascab- I do not work at HBC anymore but my husband does. I went out on the line with him the first morning. To my surprise, I did not see any cars being keyed or nails dropped. Actually, I heard a bunch of the strikers say things like "Oh, thats so n so she needs the insurance her husbands sick. Let her through." or "I feel bad for these salary people. They have no representation at all." Yes, there was alot of name calling but the majority of that was coming from people who knew the crosser and knew they could afford to stay out. Of course there will always be the ones that just didnt deserve the slander but got hit in the cross fire. Emotions tend to run high in these situations. You are the first "scab" on this Blog that I have seen be greatful for what the strikers did despite what you had to endure crossing the picket line day after day. I for one admire that!!! It takes a good person to stand up amongst the fighting and say what you said. APPLAUSE!!

Hey everyone = just found something - Contract Offer #2 Vacation Improvement – 3 weeks after 8 years; 4 weeks after 18 years Contract Offer #1 15.01.04. All employees who complete one hundred and ninety-two (192) months’ work time shall receive four weeks’ vacation with 160 hours’ straight time pay, provided they worked 1040 hours or more during the prior calendar year. SO we have HAVE LOST gaining a week of vaction by 2 years in the new offer (Have to work 18 years now instead of 16 years). NO Take aways was what the union said. I think they need to respond to this!!!!

All these people that are complaining, WE DIDN'T LOOSE ANYTHING!!! We never gain from the company. If we wouldn't have stood up for what is right we would have lost a lot. You scabs don't think we won anything then I think you need to take everything that you will get extra from our fight and donate it to charity. Pay those extra premiums. I lost nothing because I saved my pennies , I got me a month unpaid vacation! Hope it's longer because this contract still stinks!!! How is 8:24pm to 6:54am second shift???? No Overtime after eight hours on the 4x10 shift is a loss of over $5000.00. Still lot's of take aways in this stink!!!

Anti Anti SCAB: If you were half as smart as you claim to be, you'd realize that a degree doesn't promise more pay. I know plenty of college educated people on the unemployment line. The fact that I spent 3 weeks on a picket line fighting for a better contract that affects MY family (not yours) doesn't make me stupid. It's people like you, that we even have unions. By the way,I too have a degree but have found that I can make more money working at HBC. If you took the time to look at the strike issues, you'd see it wasn't about money. It was about unreasonable raises in the health plan and a takeaway of benefits. I too, put my own roof over my head. I work hard everyday (yes weekends too). I may make union wages and believe in what the union stands for, but make no mistake, I earn MY money. I'm proud to work with people who will sacrifice a paycheck (or 3) to stand against corporate greed.

OMG!!! It's the same two insurance companies that were offered in the last and rejected contract!! Only this time the Union posted (on their website and included with the handouts) the missing summary page. The SAME summary page is listed on HBC from the last and rejected contract. It's the same coverage with exclusions and copays. EVERYTHING'S THE SAME!!! The only thing that isn't is the fact that the cost is capped. Great, NOW will you whiners go back to work?!

i guess the co. finally figured out they needed more than a bunch of scabs for "business as usual." i love how the co. put week one highlights on the web page.they delivered a couple of planes that were completed the week before we went out. never saw anymore highlights,they even removed week one highlights....huh? scabs if you good have done it without us,you wouldn't be feeling so uncormfortable right now. let me guess,you had bills? The question I posed, was the question of an interested member of the community. I don't work in aircraft and am not in management. I actually work in Health Care. I was just asking out of curiousity. For those of you who responded to my question without insulting me, thank you. For those of you who couldn't answer the question without insulting me, well, I'm just a member of the community. You wanted the community to support your strike. That's a heck of a way to go about getting the support. I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about your contracts, or planes. It was made clear on the Union website that those who have crossed the line are NOT eligible to vote. However, those thinly veiled (and some not so veiled at all) threats that have been posted here have been reported to the proper authorities. (With screen shots I might add). Are we really going to accept this?? We get one more dollar a year for pension (But have to be around to see that). We lost the vaction package (More weeks in fewer years) from the first contract - now in this one it's back to the same old - same old - so the company took that back - Union said NO takeaways (BULL)!! We've stay'd out this long - why not stay out longer - seems to me like we gained too few items to go back now (frozen insurance payments for 3 years - 5 day's ETO - Hell we lost that by week 2 on the picket line).

I just read everyone's comments and I would like to clear a few things up. We WILL get paid for Labor Day. We get two choices on health care. Co-pays are $20 no matter which one you go with. I personally was tickled when I heard we were going to get to vote. I want to go back to work! Then I read the contract. Agreeing with the contract means you went on strike and went in the poor house for nothing. The stress of no pay check will all be for NOTHING. We haven't gained much more. I'm not going to argue with anyone either. I'm voting REJECT. All the things WE have just went through, and they are going to give us a less than when what we want! Stop following the union! They wanted us to vote yes the last time and we did and GOT SCREWED! Then they said vote no...we did! Now they want us to agree to basically the same thing! Why? So we can be screwed AGAIN? I'm voting REJECT! I'm not going to be a pawn in whatever game they are playing!

Every comment a striker posts only highlights their depth of stupidity. Your co-workers went to work everyday because they didn't support the strike and didn't want to look like a fool holding a sign on a stick for the whole world to see. We have plenty of money in savings and are a two income family. We chose not to waste our savings on petty bickering that didn't really get you much of anything extra. We will also enjoy the overtime income that will come at your expense. Way to go Union!

If I were a union member (I'm not) I would feel completely blindsided by the head union members. Of course they're gonna make the new contract sound as sweet as pie to you because THEY want you to vote YES but you've got to REALLY look at it! Does it look much different? Is it what you fought for? You were fooled! Union can never be trusted and everyone one of you should have voted YES for the 1st contract and you wouldn't have lost anything. I have no ties what-so-ever to Hawker or any other air craft company in wichita, but wanted to put my two cents in. I am not here to comment on the contract you turned down nor am I trying to attack anyone personally. I just wanted to point out that Wichita knows what a great service each and every one of you provide for the community. With that said, good for all of those Strikers out there day after day standing up for what you believe in. And good for all you workers who returned to your daily duties in order to take care of you and your own. We do live in America where EVERYONE has the right to choose for themselves. And finally shame on every one of you who have nothing left to resort to but childish acts of retaliation. Is that the type of person you want your children and families to look up to? Think about that before the next time you call someone a name or threaten their well being.

According to contract, deductibles & co-insurance are not going to increase. I didn't see any improvements but didn't see any take-aways either. I agree that the contract isn't the best but contrary to what the anti-strikers are saying, we still made headway. It is never wrong to stand up for what you believe in. TO: SCAB Lovah! Well i am sitting in plant 4 right now and becasue we are so caught up in the stock room with half the normal staff I find myself BORED. I feel that i can train a monkey to do this work. Warning to all you people out there saying nothing is being done here...You will have a rude awaking when you get back because management has realized what happens when people actully work things get done!!! I feel guilty getting paid half as much as i am for doing this work. But anyways I hope you guys are happy with the new contract and please come back to work peacefully and remember who you signs you checks HBC not the Union.

Threaten anyone's life, like we have seen on some of the posts when strikers come back and you'll get canned. Human life is precious ... What would you do if the exempt/non-exempt people went on strike because they have to pay the difference in health insurance increases? paychecks would not be out on time and a whole lot of other things would be delayed. Not everyone who works in the salary world makes big bucks. Some barely get by. take that and stick it in your pipe Union Member.... go hide behind Rooney (classic example of a Boeing reject)

Just read new contract. Some good changes, some same old, same old. However, have a couple of questions. Read Article 22.09.01 "Effective 01-09 other SELECTED provisions of the HBC Group Life, Medical, Disabliity Benefit Plans, Dental & Vision Plans will be REVISED as agreed between the parties as noted in the 2009 group benefits Summaries. The Company agrees to notify the union at least 30 days in advance of any changes in medical carrier or claims administrator". What revisions and where are they listed? Are deductibles and co-pays increasing? What changes to coverage are there going to be. Contract says to refer to "Group, Life, Dental Summaries for details" but I can't find them. Where are they? If deductibles and co-pays go up, and coverage goes down, there goes our 4% increase. I don't understand all the legalese of contract but I do understand double talk and loop holes. I may be wrong, but I would like to know all the REAL facts before Grandpa votes. HANG TOUGH STRIKERS!!!

hmmmmm .... hostile work environment .... if the "line crossers" don't come ask my help, I won't have to tell them where to go. only reason for any kind of hostile environment would be because the "line crosser" brings it on him/herself. There are some in there for extenuating circumstances, those I will deal with a lot nicer and those who crossed for the money and basically told us to go "F" ourselves. Those people know who they are, and they shouldn't expect even a hint of kindness from anyone who stayed out.

To all the strikers-You people are awesome. Did we lose some wages? Yes, are some of us broke? Yes, but we still have our self-respect and we stood up for what we believe in. And how is that 150 working for you??? Gee lets do some simple math. Union dues are 40 bucks a month (soon to go up) so say you have been there 10 years. You have put in 4800, oh thats just about enough to cover the wages of the upper union idiots wages while you were all on strike. So they get paid a wage from the company and the union while they push you guys to strike for a couple more dollars a month. Hmm sounds like you got the crappy end of that deal. NOt to mention in the original contract under article 21 (so i hear)they were going to lose their retirement from the company, because they were drawing it from the union and the company, but the company said, oh no no, no more double dipping!! so the union uppers went nuts with the strike and had you guys do their dirty work and you lost money while they gained!

We gained nothing really with the new contract. The co-insurance is still there, the high prescription costs. HBC never gives us sign on bonuses, so what have we really gained? Nothing. Claiming that the 4% is a true raise since the medical insurance is frozen is a farce. The co-insurance can eat up that 4% raise in one doctor trip. We gained nothing, don't accept the contract, it's not better.

We are a FAMILY and I am praying that this contract gets passed because we don't have THOUSANDS of dollars to waist on vacations like you do! You have to know that every person is not as low as the next to sit here and call names. Everybody had their reasons for the things they did. Yes some people crossed just for the money, however for some like my family there was no choice leftt. While we knew this was coming we saved as much as we could but there are things that come up that are not good things that you never planned on. (like landing in the hospital) Sometimes you have no control over what happens. So while I thank the people who stood strong because my spouce had no choice I also wish that you could understand and find out the facts before Hawker Beechcraft turns into a war. That is not what we want. We are all adults now not sixteen I mean come on enough is enough. You fought for what you believed in now act like men and women and return to work on Tuesday and do what you do best. Try to remember some of these things before you go knocking somebody in the head because they had to make the smart choice for them.

The union was asked to fight for better ins, eto and all the things we need for our families. They were not asked to go in there and fight for a sign on bonus. It's never been about the money. Now that we didn't get a bonus, everyone is upset. If it was never about the money, what is all the upset about? Yes, we need to hope they went with a different ins plan because the one we currently have sucks, but the premiums are much better this go around. Was there much ground made for staying out as long as we did? I'm not sure, but it's better than we were offered the first time. It's time to go back to work and make the money we lost this last month with the pay raise. Cuz it sounds like that is the only way we get that back. As for those company boys talking about the no overtime....yeah right, sure. Whatever you say. We'll see when we get back.

To unionworker: I woulnd not be concerned ,this will pass. You could have the best contrct in the history of the union movement and ther would still be 10-15 percent who will vote against it. If you researced who they are it is usually the single guys and gals who still live with mom and dad and have no bills other than maybe a car. Also those who are crying about a signing bonus, get over it. Been at Beech 30 years and seen one bonus of 2%,and that was in lieu of a raise that year, man was that stupid I predict that it will pas by a vote of 85 to 90 percent and we will have to set our alarm clocks beginning Tuesday. Hey confused-scab if you do take off they might jusr fire you since your'e still working without a contract! I know i would feel so bad if that happened. NOT!!

I sure hope everyone knows this is a work place. Our Job, Our Income to provide for our families. This is not a place to fight. If you want to fight quit the job and go out to the streets. I striked, yes, but I didn't agree with the strike. I stayed away to show my respect for others that were on strike. But if people vote no on this new contract, I will cross the line. I will not lose my home, my car, and most of all I will not let my family starve over the strike. You can hate me, call me names do what ever. I have been in worse situations! I risked my life to protect you (THE PEOPLE) before I came to HBC and i was making less money. I am happy with what I got. Please do the right thing and vote yes on the contract. Bill Collectors and so on won't keep putin bills off to much longer. And yes the members that stand around and chat all day long at work and do nothing. Well wake up!! I love how you scabs laugh off the contract as no gains. Whats been released is just the highlights. What they highlighted is a HUGE improvement. It went for being able to work you 7 days a week 52 weeks a year, 365 days a year if you work a 3/12 or 4/10 to only being able to work you 6 days in a row. THATS A HUGE DIFFERENCE! Keep working your weekends, I'd rather spend time with my family and friends then be at work on saturday and sunday.

Thank you for striking, my 4% wage increase that would of taken affect August 4th will now take affect September 2nd, pending the signing of the contract. So, when you think about it, you cost me about $240. Thanks, seriously, because of you striking I got paid for 68 hours a week for the first 3 weeks and will do the same for the last week. So, that puts into my savings account, before taxes, $6400. I know that is not fair because the "I WISH TO ENTER" sign was not given to you because you chose to display the picket signs. All you had to do was simple math to figure out that about 3 weeks out and you have LOST your 4% raise for the year. I got $6400, paid my bills, ate steak and i am getting the same 4% raise you. Thanks for showing the company and the community that you can't do simple math. I, however, can and the quality of the airplane has only gotten better. By the way, do spell check on your picket signs. Going to the bank now to count my CASH. oh, we ate good for lunches too!

Overtime Protection - The way I see it the company will get it's way afterall. Half of us will work 4 x 10 hours days (Mon thru Thursday) and the other half will work 3 x 12 hours days Fri thru Sunday. So if you thought we'd make up the lost wages for the last 4 weeks in Overtime - your wrong - there won't be anymore overtime and the company comes out smelling like a rose!! No more toys ya'all - get ready to sell the boats, Rv's and Sea Doo's cause this union has screwed us over!!!!! They couldn't even ask for a signing bonus - what the hell we doing keeping these Bozo's in our leadership Ranks - I think it's time to clean house and let's start at the top!!!!!

My hubby is not resentful, guilty or thankful to the union one bit!! He is proud to have crossed. He felt it was a good contract and what people seem to forget, in the long run is only 3 yrs!! Geez. It will all be up for grabs again in 3 yrs, its not like its a 20 year contract!! Get a grip on things people. You just lost thousands in wages for a couple dollars a month and some ETO for newbies. At the age of only 33, I have the rest of my life to make money so I could care less about some signing bonus. The four biggest issues were insurance, overtime protection, ET0, and pension. All of those issues were addressed and improved upon. I lived fine on the wage I made before August 2nd, it was all of the other things that were the issue to me. If it were just about money then they would have pushed for a signing bonus and higher wage increase. It was more about not losing what we already had and not taking away from the future generations.

If your husband was worth anything to the company and was a well liked worker his team lead/manager would respect it if he said, hey man, got a vacation coming up! Or if he put in for vacation they can not require him to work during it. That is kind of self explanitory, but what do i know, I have only been a Beech aircraft workers daughter for 31 years, oh and a Beech workers wife for the last 13. My husband has been required on a weekend and has gone to his lead, told him that his son has a football game on saturday and they have always worked with him and said, ok then you can work it on sunday!! guess your hubby isnt in the best area!!

Congratulations HBC workers. I hope this contract is what you were wanting. Too those of you wanting a signing bonus. It's not hard to figure out that you end up with more money by getting the raises than with a one-time signing bonus. And you have to save money before the contract expires in case there is a strike. And it can be done on $10--$15 per hour. We have done it 3 times with Boeing. Start saving now and you will be prepared if this happens again. And I hope all of you that stuck it out and honored the picket line remember what Boeing could possibly end up going in through in a couple of weeks. Again----way to stay UNION STRONG!!

I am not thanking the union one bit so you can stop with the 'your welcome scabs' BS! You got NOTHING better!!!!! Perhaps you all didnt know that the reason for the union pushing a strike is because ARTICLE 21 in the contract!!???? That they are no longer letting the higher up union guys (the ones that got paid this entire time of strike) to double dip on retirement!!! They changed it in the contract to state that the higher up union guys can no longer get retirement from both the union and the company. So they took that away and the union guys freaked out and were like, STRIK STRIKE STRIKE! so now that you know that,,,,,,was it worth it to you?????? Perhaps rumor, perhaps not. You make the call, but it makes one think about things huh!? This contract isnt much different then the first one! There isnt anything in there that was worth striking over but a few dollars. Its the same contract worded differently with a couple dollars changed! THATS IT!!

cliff..you are saying what i preached for 2 weeks or longer in the hallowed halls of plant 4...our skiled workers ..couldnt figure if they got a raise...say 2 dollars on the hour ..that if their ins went up 10 bucks per month that was not 110 percent of thier raise..this was union vomit than they ate it like a dog... we didnt get anything....thank you all for dwindling my savings down...oh well...it is funny how they handed the checks out to day and make sure everyone knew that if we ok'd this contract when we vote we would not get paid strike pay for the 4th week..lol timing is everything... i really cant say we got anything but empty savings account.. now.....yall will really need the overtime..jus hope hbc hasnt stopped it all!! oh well..if i have to i will pack my bags and more in with one of the union officals and their family...i pen the misguided info on them!!

To all you Union members that stuck it-out. You should be very proud today. Your brotherhood, loyalty & sacrifice are a compelling story in this era of economic uncertainty & blatant corporate greed. HBC drew a line in the dirt. Dirt thrown in your faces is what they offered. They showed their true colors by refusing to negotiate at all. They were the new Bully on your block & the moving party in this dispute. If the Machinists would have caved-in, your future working conditions would have come under attack along with threats of south of the border outsourcing. Can you imagine the message to the HBC corporation if nearly all of you hourly workers would have stood strong & together? Likely a better contract offer & a shorter strike cycle. For those that chose to cross…YOU will have to live with YOUR decision!

most of the new people hired in the last 2 yrs which is around only make 15-18$ an hour and for families the increase on health care was $20 then $33 then who knows maybe not 10$ and we fought for the people who arent even working yet (eto)and for the people who have been working there for a long time(pension) it was good to see some solidarity

Some of the issues were fixed, but what about the 24hr notice for mandatory O/T? That was a big one that would not have cost the company a dime. I dont want to have to tell kids we can never have a vacation again because we are on 30 seconds O/T notice at HBC or have to cancel vacation plans and loose hundreds if not thousands of dollars for none refundable airline tickets and hotel packages. There goes the 4% raise. I am just not sure this contract is the "best and final offer"

This contract is only a little better then the previous offer what about us being broke us new people dont have the money stockpiled like the old timers so i say B.F.D on the new contract you old timers have been itching to strike for years thanks for taking us people who cant afford it down with you if you dont believe me ask my wife if you can find her i havent seen her for 2 weeks thanks alot guys but at least you oldtimers won

The contract will be a little better than the original but it is better. I can't wait to go back to work. My wife has had enough of me "interfering" with her routine. I think she's more ready than I am! hahaha She does (and now I see it too) believe that this strike was a blessing. She said that if it wasn't for the strike I would have NO IDEA what it would be like to be a stay at home parent. I DO have a new found admiration for all the SAHM(D)s out there. You truly have a harder job than any one else. THAT being said...I'll be able to go back to what I do best...fix planes!

ive seen some of the contract details they are great but what about a signing bonus to make up for being in the poorhouse now. it would make it easier for us new people to feel like we didnt waste our time for 3 weeks but i guess it will be good for the old timers congratulations

Was it worth a month without pay? The freeze in health care rates will save the employees $10.48/month. Take that times 12 months for 3 years and the employees will have gained $377. But during the strike an employee who makes $25 for 40 hours has lost $1000 per week in lost wages. For 4 weeks the difference in lost wages and gained savings in health care is $-3623. There is also a $7 increase to pensions, instead of the $4 offered in the previous offer ($3 difference). Which means the strikers who lost $1000 per week in wages, but gained $377 in health care savings over the next 4 years would need to work at Hawker Beechcraft long enough to collect the pension to even get any benefit. And he would have to have worked for 40 years and then live 30 years after retirement to make up most of the difference in lost wages (without interest). There is also the gain in the no change in Earned Time Off for new employees, but that doesn?t directly affect the bottom line for those who missed 4 paychecks. Yes, there are some minor ?wins? for the union. But was it really worth it? It looks like your union officials have led the workers astray once again.

Thanks to the people in the Wichita area for all there support, and to the Fedral Mediators for steping in and helping us get a fair contract that are younger people can work with. It wasnt about the money, it was about the future of our kids. Not all Aircraft employees are there for the money, most are there for their families, and the people they work with. People standing together can get things done weither it be in a Union or in your own neighborhoods, anything is possible if your strong enough to stand for what you fill and deserve.

The health care for us would have went up 7 a month. The raise will equal 160 a month. How does that make sense? No ones raises would have gotten "ate up" in the rise in health care. Now 3 yrs ago, that is when it all got ate up, but the union was stupid back then and didnt fight for better rates! Its about time its over but it still doesnt look like the union got much more, the strike was still a waste of time and money! Hope they are nice when they go back but we all know they won't be! They are a rude bunch of people that just like to yell and blame their issues on scabs! I feel sorry for those that crossed that will have to listen to the union BS when they all come back! The angry mob will continue afterwards and I hope the company will see that and do what is right for those working hard!

Dear Kake since you read all of this crap before it is put up on the screen it would be great if you took it all down now. There are enough problems without people being able to write all this crap up here. I am not sure what could it has done. It is just a bunch of crap. There are enough problems in the world not to worry about all of the mean things that are being said on your web sight. For weeks now I have read all of the put downs and they are sad. The strike is over it is all over so please before things get worse take all of this crap off the web. Do not give these people anyother way to fight when people can not stand up for themselves. Wait till it gets back inside the work walls and nobody has the balls to say anything. And if EVERYBODY was smart they would act like adults take car of there familys and GET OVER IT! KS law states overtime at 46 hours. However, Federal law (FLSA) states that time "worked" in excess of 40 hours in a week will be paid at OT rates. Whichever law is more benefical to the employee will rule. In this case it is obviously the Federal law of 40 hours. Understand that "time worked" does not include ETO, Holiday, etc. That is time "given" not worked.
Yes, most companies do pay OT after 40 hours. What is VERY rare, however is the company that will pay OT for over 8 hours worked in a day. If you work 4 tens in a week, you don't get any OT pay, even though all 4 days were over 8 hours. I work for a company that paid that way until about 7 years ago. The employees have still not forgiven the company for "taking money away from them". And I think it is great that you all are standing up for what you believe. But when it is all over, you all do still have to work together as professionals. The outright hostility from both sides can only cause more problems. It would be a shame to go back to work, and have a bunch of people get fired for harassment.
Stephanie -- Any company that falls under the Fair Labor Standards Act (which almost all do -- they only have to be participating in interstate commerce) has to pay time and a half after forty hours in a workweek. Employers do not have to pay overtime after 8, 10, or 12 hours in a day (they only have to count the week - not each day), unless they agree to that in a collective bargaining or other agreement. You are correct in noting that the HBC offer does go above and beyond what is required by either state or federal law regarding overtime work.

Name me one company thats worth a d*mn that doesn't pay overtime after 40 hrs. The company is stating that over time is going to stay the same as it always has been. I'm correcting the couple of people here that think they have to work 40hrs BEFORE they get overtime. The union isn't around to cure all or do all. They are around to help unite the workers...sadly I believe the IAM is in it for their own pockets. I don't believe they are looking out for us. Thats why I encourage EVERYONE INVOLVED to READ the contract before they make up THEIR OWN MINDS. On page 3...Time worked in excess of the designated shift hours as set forth in Article 3 during any 24-hour period, and time worked in excess of a total of 40 hours during a workweek, shall be construed as overtime and paid for at the rates herein provided. Uh...that means anything after your normal shift, whether that's 8,10 or 12, you get your time and a half. I don't agree in full with this contract and I hope it's rejected, but COME ON PEOPLE! READ BEFORE YOU START COMPLAINING!
To union member it doesn't matter how hard we work in Salina our managers in most of the buildings don't like giving merit raises even though we deserve it. I stood out because I felt we could have received better and we have gotten better. I am ready to go back to work and start playing with the scabs......
well I guess I know elvis's mentality now. the dozens is an oooooollllllld game. To Union Member, some of those line crossers were already a major POS ... I do know some that crossed, that I feel were extenuating circumstances, those I have no problem with, although I know that some do/will have a problem with them. I know who crossed in my dept. and I know why. Some were just greedy, and have no backbone.
I have honored the strike, but I didn't agree with all of it. But I had respect for my union brothers. This strike is hard for everyone. i didn't walk the picket line, because I was happy with what I had. AGAIN I DID NOT CROSS THE LINE! I HAD RESPECT FOR THOSE WHO WERE WALKING THE LINE AND WANTED BETTER. What I have is better than I ever had so I was content. But I am respectful to everyone and I will not cause any problems with anyone when we will return to work. The people that are slamming my brothers. i do not care for you. I don't hate you, but I don't care for you. Same to the some of the union members who are being hateful for the wrong reasons. But i respect the work place and I will help a coworker even if he is a scab, because its the right thing. So members might dislike that, but sorry. I'm not risking my job. The harder you work, someone will notice trust me and you will be rewarded. I have seen it happen and it happen to me to.
