Parimutuel racing in Kansas has come to an end -- at least for now. The Woodlands had its final night of dog racing Saturday before closing.

It could still reopen if the track can come to an agreement with the state over how slot machine revenues would be split up.

The Woodlands was bustling on Saturday night as racing fans came out for the track's final night. Owners had hoped to use revenues from slot machines that had been approved at the track to turn a dismal racing operation around.

But track owners say the state wants too much of the gross revenue for them to make a decent profit.

The state is demanding 60 percent of gross revenues for 800 or more slot machines that would have been put in at the Woodlands.

The track's closing put more than 130 people out of work.

just like the dog track here, if he dont get his way, he closes and goes home. on the other hand, what other money source is required by law to gove 60%of the gross to the state and local? are there taxes on the total gross too?
