to the scab..i am glad your lunch was yummy...i can see you must have worked for lsi logic...they paid their employees with movie tickets and pop corn( and then turned right around and bragged about how they had billions in surplus)......maybe the next raise you will get will be a cut in your hourly wages and hbc will give you a dairy queen blizzard coupon.... a free meal is all it took??? i guess everyone has a price!!!!! very sick!!

common sense tells you that if you stand in front of a car that is trying to get somewhere you might get hit. it's too bad that man got hit, but it could have been prevented by not being an idiot and walking in front of cars.

I understand why the picketers block people going in to work but why are they blocking people on the way out at the end of the day??? I guess I don't get it.

As to the Woman at Plant 2 who hit the man on the picket line. Yes she is union and she did vote on Saturday, we all saw her there. We also all saw her intentionally gun her truck to get through the line where if she would have waited her 10 seconds them the man and all the rest would have got out of her way. We also asked the cops did they see that and they said yes and shruged. We also asked HBC Security if they got that on film and they said they did. So the natural conclusion is that she meant to hit the man and she did so with out a backward glance. If this would have happened on Broadway and Douglass the police would have conducted a chase and arrested the accused. Not so with a SCAB for HBC!!!!

Better check HBC website about the laws of a right to work state. FAQ section. Anyone remember York and their strike? York replaced all their union memembers who were on strike. York strikers got a letter and it could happen now. HBC can replace you at anytime-strike or not, union or not. What did the Union tell you about that? Is Rooney going to pay for your insurance and wages when that happens? Are future new hires (who might not perform to expectations and be weeded out) worth it? I think not.

As a third generation aircraft employee, I would like to personally thank all of the people from the Company and the Union that believe in my dedicaton, skills and work ethic that have helped provide for the company, my family, and the future of Wichita, Kansas being the Air Capital for generations to come. I am very loyal to my lifelong roots in the Wichita area, and my American heritage. In my opinion we should all take a good look around at our investments and make them wisely. How many people take the time to shop for American made products? Whether it be an American made car, clothing, furniture or whatever. We all need to look around and see what we are doing as individuals to help keep the American dream alive! If it were not for the takeaway's from the new hires, the unreasonable work hour changes and the Company increasing their ability to lay off 25% of a department every 3 months I would have voted for this contract. Still standing proud with all my savings !!!!

hey contractor, you can be sure that if the salary people ever went on strike we wouldn't block the entrances and keep the hourly employees from getting to work. we have enough respect and common sense not to do that.... as for those selfish union people out there... well, their actions speak for themselves.

It is sad reading all these rude comments from salary people trying to get to work! The majority of you at Hawker Beechcraft think YOUR jobs are important. The real working people KNOW that a third of you guys are worthless OVERHEAD. We won't be supporting you when the company realizes how disposable half of you are with your individual coffee machines, microwaves and fans when you sit in a/c offices. quit playing on the pc at work and do something.

I agree with Jo 100%. What gives the union-members on strike the right to block my RIGHT TO WORK as I arrive (and leave) the plant? It's quite simple, really. If you don't want to get hit by a car, stand out of the way to demonstrate your opinions.

I hope the company and the union can come to a fair and reasonable compromise. It is really a lose-lose situation for everyone. So please put your best foot forward and make this work for everyone. We are not far apart. Let's work together to resolve these issues that keep us from being a team. Right now companies across town are enjoying good business at our expense. I find it quite entertaining that as a salary worker in Plant 1, without a union, I have the right to negotiate my entry rate along with each of my raises with my supervision. Even though many argue on here that the Union is "fighting for wages" or "would be making minimum wage without the union" I gladly enjoy my 12% raise on my own negotiating power. Must just be a fluke? I highly respect everyone of the workers, union or non-union that made it into their normal jobs today at Beechcraft. As a right to work state, it seems these people that made it through understand that they have the option to either work at Beechcraft, or if they are upset about something going on, they have every single right to leave the company to pursue a better opportunity for their personal situation. Companies are out to make a profit, and with the constant competition around the world, are looking for every way possible to operate business at lower costs. All you union machinists need to get a life. Standing out chanting your words in 105dgree weather.. with no medical insurance to take care of all the heat exhaustion your going to get. Oh and the people complaining about having to work weekends and that its not fair that you dont get to sit in air condition all day. Have you maybe took the time to think that if you had gone to college and received a good education maybe that would be you sitting in the offices instead of in the machine shops. You cant be a lazy good for nothing all your life and slack off on everything and not get a good education but still expect the same treatment/pay/benefits as the office employees. I think its complete stupidity to block the entrances of the plants to stop people getting to work. I laugh at the people who are striking and wont be able to pay there bills when they roll in a couple weeks.. I also feel sorry for you guys who dont have medical insurance to take care of your families.

Go ahead and strike...it's your right to do so....but let people who WANT to work go through. You don't have the right to prevent someone else from earning a living. Name calling and fear tactics are for scared, insecure workers who are trying to shame honest people for doing the job they agreed to do. Your rights end where mine begin. If you step in front of my car, I'll keep going. It's not my fault you don't have enough sense to stay out of the way of a moving vehicle. I hope you have health insurance when you go to the hospital.....

I'm non-union and I make WAY more than minimum wage..... A Union isn't a critical element to gainful employment. Think about how much money these strikers WON'T be putting into their bank accounts because they aren't working. Very sad. I guess that's more money that WON'T be in our Wichita economy because they don't want to work. My brother was head of the Teamsters Union for years and if you believe they aren't in this for profit you are seriously misled. They parasite off of hardworking laborers while their pockets get fat.... Be thankful you have a great job in aircraft that you can be proud of and quit letting the Unions use you as puppets for their own gain. It's time to see it for what it is.

The union is the only thing between you and minimum wage. You should thank all of us for what you still have now and what you will live on when you retire. The union is fighting for fair wages and benefits for all of us, members or not, those who will need their pension this year and new hires who deserve a good pension when they retire. We don’t work for a mom and pop shop , we build “the most advanced mid -sized business jet in the world.” We deserve time with our families without continuous mandatory overtime and the company reducing ETO. New hires don’t even have a paid day for a year, how can you recruit skilled professionals with that. You people may expect crap pay because you have a crap job, we make quality planes and expect quality pay and benefits. They can’t make quality without us. If they sent our jobs to Mexico, the Mexicans would fall out of the sky before they made it across the border.

It is no suprise why hbc workers are on strike. It is the only way hbc and the union can turn plant #3 over to ONEX & partners. Can't wait until plant #3 is seperated from the square mile and union workers in that plant find themselves working for a new employer. At what rate? senority same as any new hires. Sorry you should have seen that one coming!!!! Where were those transfer papers???? Ask yourself- how in the world wouldn't higher ups in the union be unaware of this??-- well with a strike--no contract--no union to deal with--no union members to deal with--so we lose a few members--whats the big deal...they all had a chance to transfer...most in the plant are non union anyway---that will teach them that they should have paid their dues!!! and by the way this sure does give the union more ammo. membership rate is sure to go up.!!! good luck to all-just don't be misled down the wrong trail by the wrong people in order to complete the sale of RAC.GO CANADA

This is the son of a machinist that is striking and all i have to say is i think the contract that was offer was one of the worst contracts i have ever seen first i want to tell the everybody that heard the contract on the news did not hear the full contract you heard the good things about the contract, the 4% raise goes to the insurance policy, and another thing is i dont get to spend that much time with my dad anymore because he is made to work every weekend that is just greed on the ceo's and presidents part because all they do is sit in a air conditioned room and do paper work, and all i hear that the machinist get is a fan in a hanger, now that is not being loyal, if the ceo's and such wanted to be loyal then give your hard working group a break they have lifes to.

I won't support these strikers, and I don't even work in the aircraft indusrty. Others have to make a living, and can't always take a day off to "support the union" will just lead to another day of them being ask to take the day off. Yelling names at people just trying to earn a living cause they can't afford to take a day off. So for those that have to cross the line, I support you, and realize the sacrifice you're making!

What I think is that unfortunately some of the workers jumping the picket line listened to Tony. Two people were hit by vehicles while they were walking the line. The delay is all of 10 seconds per car. One walker had paramedics called and the other was caught on Hawkers own security cameras, the police did nothing. I think it's deplorable that the woman at Plant 2 who hit her own co-worker just roared off with out even checking to see what kind of damage she did. I also feel that the new reporters' did a disservice to the public by not reporting that part of the news. That's corruption at work. The police allowed a driver to commit a hit and run right in front of their noses.

It is unfortunate that the majority of the people of this community can't show more support for these union members. You may not realize that these "greedy" aircraft workers take the $2 less an hour that they make for the same job and spend it in our community. Which helpls support other great workers in our community. Like all the waitress, waiters, commissioned salespeople even down to the cashier at walmart. So as I am sorry that you think that they make too much already, I sure never heard you complaing when the money that they make was benifiting you. So when this strike trikles its way down to you and effects your job and income maybe all the union members can return the favor and say they don't want to hear you complain or Ha! Ha!.... Maybe instead of being jelous of the money that they make you could try supporting them. Also if the money they make makes you jelous then you should take a look at what all their managers, vp's and ceo's make.

Union Guys-Cessna's paygrade 6 is not equal to HBC paygrade 5. This is the $2.27 pay difference that the Local 733 sent flyers about around last week. FYI-Local 733 addition is incorrect on the Local 733 flyer. You are fighting for a $1.27 difference in the two contracts. Please read all the information carefully-both from HBC and Local 733. The Local 733 has twisted the truth to get what Rooney wanted last contract-a stike. This time, it's costing you and yours the current medical coverage you had (as of monday). You will have to pay to get COBRA coverage on top of your other bills. $150 dollars in 3 weeks WILL NOT cover that. Was the contract REALLY that bad? New hires are new hires NOT 5 year employees.

Let the strikers sit in the hot sun and or rain for a few days making NOTHING.... maybe they'll be thankful for the good job that they have. Meanwhile, I hope they add up how much they're losing in wages when they could be in air-conditioning and bringing home a check. You know, it's hard to feel sorry for you Union Workers...maybe you should look for a job that's more appealing to you.

I wonder about the counting of the votes! Why isnt it done by a 3rd party? All I know is, it was odd when you went to vote it was difficult to find a PEN anywhere to cast your vote but the union gladly had boxes of PENCILS all over the place! I voted YES for the contract/NO to strike and made sure to find a pen, now I am just worried about those who counted them. This contract was a heck of a lot better then 3 yrs ago, under Raytheon and the union said accept it back then, so what the heck is in their minds with this one?? its better! yet they say strike, bit confusing if you ask me. I will cross the line and enjoy every ounce of OT, and no they arent going to fire me and yes they have agreed to pay the wage I currently have, maybe union says its a lie, but where is their proof?? Guess I will post and let you know when my check is deposited in my account next week! Keep you posted!!

I think that HBC could get this resolved ASAP, before they start losing customers or before mangers,and untrained workers start scraping parts also you can't just let any one work on a Assembling line before you know it there will be airplanes falling out of the sky. Hawker Beechcraft needs to get this resolved before it cost them more in the long run in rework and who know what else. Dont forget Spirit Airsystem contract ends next month same owners hate to see two companys on strike!!!! So pull your head out and get this resolved!!! This is a big impact on Wichita, and the surrounding areas.

You have the right to strike, but you DO NOT have the right to harass others who are showing up for work like they agreed to. Anyone who harrasses another worker should permanently lose their jobs. I have no problem with the aircraft company employees keeping as much of the monies here in Wichita as they can. It's good for local business. Hang in there strikers. Onex and Goldman Sachs can afford a little more.

Jimmy for your information the people you see coming into work are salaried employees who have no choice but to cross the picket line. It will now become their responsibility to build the planes while the strike is on. A strike is a very difficult task for both the union and the company in which neither side can declair a victory. There just comes a time when you must protect what you have and fight for the future of the American Workers all across America both union and non-union. Unions 95% of the time never strike over money it is all the issues around the money. We never hear about all the money labor unions donate to the community and the free services they provide to low income families. Labor is a big sponsor in the United Way along with many other charitable causes in this great city of Wichita.

It would be very interesting to know how many of the cars in the parking lots at these union shops are GM and Ford & how many are foreign companies. If these guys are truly not just greedy workers they would support other American unions. These unions need to acknowledge their responsibility in jobs going overseas.

How many planes have scabs and salary workers put out in two weeks? Answer:zero. The three that went out were ninety percent complete.Way to go HBC. It really makes sense to have engineers cleaning shop floors and equipment.

I just wanted to say thank you to all those idiots striking because of you we get free lunch all the overtime and pay we want and oh yeah we stll have our benefits. Wow I went to the dr and guess what only $20.00 Wow I am sure glad you all are being dumb thanks. I love this you just keep striking and try to find someone who will take your sorry butts. Oh whats that my kids still have health insurance and I am getting paid great money to come in and be treated like the best employee ever. I hope you all do get hit who's gonna cover that medical bill? You picked a great time to strike your kids all need school clothes. supplies and tution fee's. SMART REAL SMART :P
Spouse of a Union Member.... As a waitress at a local restaraunt, it doesn't matter any. I make $2.13 an hour and the tips that I do make, when people actually tip me, I pay about 30% to pay my fellow coworkers to work. People realize that 10% is not a good tip at all, considering that 3-5% goes to someone else. I would like to see the union stop complaining about how the community is not giving any support. These are hard times and everyone is struggling, but it is not HBC & HBC alone that makes this community. You have put yourself on a high horse and continue to say that this is going to devastate the local economy. Yeah, it's going to be tough for a while, but don't think that has anything to do with you. If you haven't been paying attention to the news, other than this, the entire US is having economic problems not just Wichita. So for all you union workers, either suck it up like the rest of us or get a new job.
I don't know what everyone else feels, but to compare the union to military is a complete sham. I have not once heard people in the military complain or strike because they have to work in 120 degree heat in the middle east. They are sacrificing their lives to give you the freedom of speech and you have audacity to compare yourself to them? When you stop complaining and concerning yourself with your needs then you can talk, but until then just stop. As a military wife it is hard to know that my husband is overseas doing his job, and yeah he may not like it, but he also does it and doesn't throw a temper tantrum because he doesn't get the time off or the air conditioned room or the pay he truely deserves. So for anyone who compares the union to the military, it doesn't even come close. I work 2 full times jobs and go to school full time, so I don't sit around at home and do nothing all day like some of these union wives.
food for thought...you are so right about Steve Rooney ..he alone was the master of puppets when spirit first opened and he talked those people ot of their jobs...he caused a huge mess for them..and then when i saw him smiling on tv saturday after the election....i thought...we have been had..i did vote for the contract ..it was 100 better than what we had 3 years ago and on that contract the union beged us to vote it in..yes....newbies to hbc.. your union leaders practically begged us...and they even told us that labor battles were fought in the senate and not at the bargaining table....i sure hope Steve Rooney aint having us all for dinner...
to Michelle: why should we wait 10 seconds.. you shouldn't be in the way anyway.. i say forget your 10 seconds of speech.. i dont want to hear and neither does anyone else so why should we have to wait 10 seconds to start driving home. if you want to yell and scream at us while we are arriving and leaving work so be it. but dont stand in our way. You will get hit its common sense. The cops are there to make sure you don't vandalize peoples cars or hurt people in general. They don't care about your strike or your freedom of speech. for example.. if you let your little dog out into the neighbors yard with a big dog, chances are it will get hurt or killed. Same thing applies with standing in our way.. MOVE!!!
To the people thinking the vote was rigged, you were more than welcome to stay around and find out the final outcome. The vote was a regularly scheduled meeting and was open to any and all union members including the count. I was there and helped count those ballots like I have at the last 2 strike sanction votes. Everything is checked from name list, sign in, tickets for ballots, and finally the ballots themselves. And then everything is double checked and all those figures must match!! That means it's checked over 8 times and then everything is sealed in the event of an audit by the Dept. of Labor. If you weren't there to make sure then you have no right to talk and maybe next time you will put your money where your mouth is and particiapte and witness the whole process before you critique it from your laptop while sitting in your La-Z-Boy. As usual everyone wants to point the finger and blame someone else, but won't take the time to put any of their own effort into anything.
aircraft workers make a decent wage and good benefits. Is it because of the kind hearted company or the union. Hmmmm You union haters don't have a clue.
If Steve Rooney and his cronies told you to put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger ... would you do that too? He doesn't care about you guys. He was a 2005 Boeing reject. There was a good reason they got rid of him, and now he's your problem child. Thanks for the memories.

Union Member - Do you know what a scab is? It's the person a company hires to do your job while on strike. I'm not part of the hourly bargining unit, but just overhead and when you need the ppl who are just overhead, they will remember your bad attitude. You need prozac, but wait your insurance was dropped ... HAHAHA
Imagine those greedy aircraft workers, wanting to provide for their families as best they can. How dare them! Ya know, aircraft has always been a pretty good place to work. That's what puts Wichita on the map. How come every time things get a little tough, it's the american worker that has to take the bullet? The workers at HBC have taken the bullet the last three contracts. It's not only this last offer, but the previous contracts that caused the strike. It's been building up for years. You people who don't know what you're talking about just mind your own business.
