When Hawker Beechcraft are number 1 in the business aviation world, then they can ask for what we at Cessna get.

My husband is a retired Beech worker, was very proud of the union, but when they (Beech)(Raytheon) put pressure on him to retire because of age he was 62 and they are not suppose to do that, they pressured him on a daily basis, It finally came down to bumping him from a labor grade 1 inspector to a 4 He fooled them all and retired. The Union needs to fight/ They still slip things in and o by the way the $44. retirement pension per year does not really figure out that way. You only get that if you receive it for 10 years. He was not planning to die in 10 years so we took less for a lifetime. I am just saying if we didn't have unions rats would be running around, low pay and no insurance/ They still slip stuff in even with the unions protection. They got the job done on my husband Age descrimination/ We need unions/ We need more of them and more protection not less/ He worked for Beech aircraft for 41 years/ Yea Union We look at the clock everyday that thanks him for all his years

I have to say after reading all of these most of you are mad about union workers and I have seen most of you call them lazy and greedy! There are some people in the world that are lazy and greedy but they are everywhere not just at HBC. I see a bunch of lazy people at all different kinds of companies. I think the issue with most of you is maybe your jealous that you spent $50,000 on an education and your working twice as hard and for half of the money. Isn't the saying "Work Smarter not harder?" That exact phrase does not classify anyone as being lazy! Sorry you wasted your money on an education that has got you know where in life! Oh, and I am an educated person but I support the workers of HBC and my family that has given them 32 years of their lives!!!

This comment board is useless. Extreme union vs. extreme anti-union. Unions still serve a purpose. Not every one agrees with them. Most people at HBC know they get above average pay for our part of the country with no advance education required. We just feel that the company that can afford to pay a CEO a $22 million bonus can afford to pay us what the rest of the aircraft industry gets paid. And for all the haters, if you hate your lower paying jobs with less benefits instead of dogging out union members and calling them greedy why don't you apply? The contract is about more than just pay and benefits too. If i strike it will more likely be about the contract not protecting my job. Then again, that's not important. I should just take the money and be happy. Get a life people.

Its called 3rd shift moron. IF HBC employees want to be like Cessna employees. Work for Cessna. Fire all you people, I'll be a scab, drive by and smile while you sit outside in the heat. That is if you picket, most will sit on their butt at home

You know all of ya'll sound like you are a bunch of whiney babies in High School. I am a contractor at HBC. I make my choices. I pay for all my own insurance. I don't rely on a Union to get me a job. I have my resources and rely on my own work ethic to either keep my job or go someplace else. This company or any other company doesn't care about you. They just want people to do a job with some benefits. Without the union you wouldnt have a job and be stuck flippen burgers for minimum wage or suckin up unemployment.

"Working Man" sounds like a narrow minded fool who likes to hear the sound of his own voice.Teens who work at McDonald's aren't ignorant, they are gaining experience and work ethic that you seem to think you have so much knowledge about. It's not wrong for hard working people to want to better themselves to better provide for their family, it's called capitalism, which "is" America. Ask all the people you say you know who work at the aircraft plants and are all so happy how they think the wages and benefits the are happy with came to be. Or is "Working Man" saying the people he knows at these plants are greedy and lazy too. By the way, how is it that "Working Man" has time to be writing a blog on his computer at 10:03AM in the morning. Probably either home on his a*s or ripping off his boss.

Don is a government agent secretly posing as a aircraft worker. You can tell by the squinty eyes.

well!!I work in HBC for the last two years, and I see a lot of lazy people than other place,in some lines, always complaint for nothing, like now and the union protect those people.
Posted by: Working man Location: Wichita on Jul 30, 2008 at 10:03 AM

I usually get upset when I hear about Union members complaining about pay and insurance, comments about how thye want the company to take care of them. Without a union the lazy people would be unemployed. Let each person stand alone, the better employees get the better pay. I pay $510 a month for health insurance for my family. Try doing that. I'm not saying Unions are the Anti-Christ but thay have created greedy workers. Every companyt and society has management that makes the BIG easy paycheck, thats life. If a good living is being made, is it not to greedy to demand more? Work ethic has gone done everywhere, from the ignorant teen at McDonalds to CEO's. We have become a work as little as possible nation. I know alot of people that work at all of the plants here and most of them are VERY happy with what they make because we remember what we had when we grew up and now have the opportunity to give our kids almost anything they want. Be happy you are not unemployed making half the money

Only union members have whistles???? Thats like saying only the military and police have automatic weapons. Where do the kids get those?????? I got one (a whistle) and i gave it to my son to play with. at this moment i have no clue where it is. just because i am a union member doesn't mean i have to live eat and breath union nor does it mean i have to believe in everything they say. i am my own person with my own goals
Posted by: Union Member Location: Wichita on Jul 29, 2008 at 08:25 PM

Don, did you say your whistle is in the trash? Only the union members were to have whistles....so are you a member or a hypocrite?
Posted by: Hawker wife Location: kansas on Jul 29, 2008 at 07:16 PM

Don you say your whistle is in the trash? That is funny because only union members got them. So which side are you on or do you even really work at HBC? You get on here and try and run the union down but at the same time you don't hesitate to reap the benefits that union has gotten you. So when all is said and done are you going to stand up and say "NO THANK YOU to better pay, insurance benefits, and pension plan, because I don't believe in the union"? I find that hard to believe. You will be right there waiting for same contract that others were out there fighting for. So the real men and women will be fighting for this companies employees while you hide and cross the line like a little girl. Some of us take a stand in what we believe in and unfortunately people like you get the rewards although you are not big enough to take a stand. STRIKE on UNION MEMBERS fight for what you believe in!!! Written by the wife of a HBC UNION MEMBER (who fully supports him going on strike).
