I sit here and I read these scams and yell HA! why wouldn't the average Joe know this. Then I took a good look at my household... I have two teens that have no clue about scams- fraud- identity theft. So some education was in order and some peace of mind for me and mine. I registered the entire family with TrustedID. Even my mom was eligible since she lives on our property in-law apt. Better safe than severely sorry.

Be smart and tell them you don't have a credit card and see how flustered they get and then hang up. Better yet just hang up when they ask you for the info and then call the authorities. We have to be on our guard at all times. it is sad to think that there are people out there that do these things to other people, especially the elderly. Please tell your family to be on the watch and let the ederly in their family know not to give out any kind of info over the phone.

"Stupid" is not really the right word here. Perhaps "trusting", "gullible", or naive would be a better fit. There are still people out there that would never dream of doing something like this, so would never suspect that it is not legitimate. It is hard for me to imagine that someone would think, let alone post, that ANYONE deserves to be scammed, in any way.
