If you're flying out of Southwest Kansas, by next week expect to pay alot less. Both the Garden City and Dodge City airports negotiated new deals with Mesa Airlines. Beginning next week it will cost $198 to fly roundtrip to Kansas City. The same ticket today would cost you $700.

The new rates couldn't come at a better time. The number of people flying out of Western Kansas is at an all time low. "Historically, we've had high fares out of this area, now Mesa has come to the table and made some offers", said Dodge City Airport manager Mike Klein.

Klein says the negotiations wouldn't have been possible without the help of Representative Jerry Moran.

The new lower fares are contingent on whether people use the flight. If after 90 days Mesa decides the numbers aren't where they'd like to be, it can raise fares.
