KU Receives $2.1 Million For Alzheimer's Drug Research
The National Institutes of Health is giving the University of Kansas 2.1 million dollars for a four-year study on Alzheimer's disease.

The National Institutes of Health is giving the University of Kansas 2.1 million dollars for a four-year study on Alzheimer's disease.
The money is aimed at developing two drugs that could help treat patients of the memory-robbing disease.
Pharmacology professor Mary Michaelis says the two drugs protect neurons in the brain from the toxins produced by peptides that experts believe lead to dementia in Alzheimer's patients.
Michaelis says she wants to develop at least one of the two drugs so eventually she can begin testing with human subjects.
