A 9-11 survivor will share his story at a local church about one of the nation's darkest days.
"Almost every hour, I think of something about 9/11. That's how I've been for 7 years," said Sujo John, a 9/11 survivor.
He's a survivor of one of the worst days in American history.
"The most moving moment of that day was passing the fire and policemen as we were trying to make our way down," says John. "These brave men were trying to make their way up. We passed them saying you guys are the real heroes, God be with you guys."
John and his pregnant wife, Mary, lived through the attacks on the Twin Towers, where they both worked.
"It's a day no one will ever forget," said John.
It's a day that led this successful businessman down the path toward a new calling... a message he says came clear through the chaos around him.
"Something in me speaks out and says, 'If you die, where are you going?' Immediately, I felt this peace of Heaven and I heard the Lord saying, 'Sujo, if you die, you're going to make it to heaven," said John.
Shortly after the attacks, John started speaking at churches about his experience. Just a few months later, it became a full time mission taking him around the world.
John's mission, however, isn't just to tell his story but rather what it meant to him spiritually. It's a message urges others to take to heart.
"I feel in a way I've been spared to challenged people to make them think about death and that's something we don't talk about. We think about life," said John.
John says his message is about opening our eyes to life, the good and bad, and death. He urges never take anything for granted, using every moment. He says it's a mission he'll stay on until he's told it's complete.
"Until God calls us home, I want to be busy telling people how to get ready for eternity," said John.
John will share his story at the Believers Tabernacle Church Sunday at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., 2000 S. Hillside.
