A retired Wichita judge has been named to preside during court appearances in the counterfeit case against the 16-year-old son of a Saline County district judge.

The Kansas Office of Judicial Administration in Topeka on Tuesday appointed judge Ron Innes to avoid any conflict of interest in Christopher Young's case. The boy is the son of Saline County District Judge Rene Young.

Police say they arrested Young last week after he tried to exchange five $20 bills bearing a one-eyed Andrew Jackson for a real $100 bill at a Salina Wal-Mart.

Young is accused of trying to pass the bills at two Salina businesses.

Saline County District Court Chief Judge Daniel Hebert said the case is being handled just like any other that may present a conflict of interest.
