Authorities are considering the possibility that the man in the Garden Plain State Bank surveillance photo could also be 39-year-old Robert Abner. They can't say for sure, but they aren't crossing him off their list of potential suspects.

Abner is wanted for questioning in the abduction of 48-year-old Joyce Patterson from Viola.

His neighbors were shocked to hear the news.

"No, no he just seemed like an average Joe, you know. He was out mowing the yard doing his thing like everybody else does," Abner's neighbor, Carl Parker said.

Court documents show Abner twice married and twice divorced. His second wife filed a restraining order in 2003. She said he threatened to kill her and hurt her children. She did not want to speak on camera, but her family said until authorities contact Abner, they worry about her safety.

A warrant was issued for Abner's arrest in November 2007, due to him owing his first wife nearly $10,000 in back child support.

Abner has rented a secluded home on W. 50th Street for the past year and a half. His landlord said he's never been a problem. Neighbors said they don't see him much, but also said he's never lead them to believe he's anything other than a quiet man who keeps to himself.

Authorities said it's possible Abner may be headed for Oregon. He drives a 1995 Blue Lexus SC400 with Kansas tags, 573-AMM.

Anyone with any information is urged to call 911.
