All~ I wanted to post an update on my situation. After the airing, I was able to talk to an attorney. He made a call for me and had the house dismissed from foreclosure, on grounds, to give me time to transfer over the name from my grandparents. The same attorney will help with this. I still need to cover the foreclosure fees, around $710.00, which I have about half from the kind donations I've received. This will also knock down the taxes owed as the foreclosure fees were also part of the tax foreclosure. The remaining taxes will still be owed after I get the name changed. Since it has been pulled from foreclosure, this will give me more time to come up with the total. Being dismissed, this meant the house was also pulled from the auction. Thank you to those that helped with batteries, cash donations, support, and prayers. Thank you all for your kind comments and prayers for the others.
I read the remarks posted here a few days ago, but it took me until TODAY to stop cussing so many rude people enough to post MY remark. I applaud Angela, for wanting to keep the family home in the family, for THINKING about recycling, which benefits you and me and the rest of the world, keeping unsafe items out of landfills, for being HONEST about her situation, which IF you READ or LISTENED, you would understand, she didn't "create" this problem, she's trying to constructively solve it. What a bunch of rude, mean, uncaring people you are. Did you even listen to the story? She didn't fall behind on her taxes. She inherited a property that was already far behind on the taxes. She didn't create this problem. She is trying to solve it. And she made a good run at doing so. Now she needs a little bit of help. Your one battery doesn't mean much to you. How many of you would even bother to go to the recycler for one battery? But if everyone that has one battery would let her have it, it would mean saving her home. So have a heart and cut it out with the rudeness and harsh remarks.
I believe in the good in people..... That being said, I hope she is able to reach her goal. Good luck, wish I had a car battery to donate.
Angela, honey it is sad that some folks from our home town have got such a bad disposition to their out look on life. If it weren't for you Angela, I don't believe that my out look on life wouldn't be any different, than that of, some of these keyboard brutalties. Angela you are the most compassionate, loving(pet-nut,we can't take all strays home,hon...), peaceful and calm person, whom I have ever known. I know that if the tables were turned and they will one day, that you would help others out. You have a fantastic ability with your jewelry making skills and the patience I see when your making a necklase, amazes me. So, now to those brutal key-board attacker's, if she had offered to make you a custome necklase, braclet or maybe a rear view mirror dangler for a far price would that had be more eccepting...hum, I wonder. And if your going to talk about a job folks and "say they hire all the time" you should at least state said company or at the very least address of said company.ASAP
This is to "Just Me" - Why don't YOU go get a job a McDonald's and shut up! She is asking for help from the community, that is not so wrong. Not only is she trying to save her home, she is taking old batteries and recycling them which might help her retain her home and helps the environment, she is also offering this which might help people who might have an old battery setting around and not know how to get rid of it. You know, some people don't know exactly what to do about getting rid of them. It's not so wrong to do this! I'm sorry this bothers you so much, but maybe you need to focus your frustrations somewhere else, rather than on someone who has fallen on hard times. Next thing you know, you'll be griping about animals who need our help. Think about it.
She is not the only ones having a hard time. McDonalds always needs help. I am sure she could find a job. God will help those who help themselves. We don't call the news station asking for batteries. We instead work and pay our bills.
Maybe the city will loan her the money. They have prenty to help the Warren in Old Town.
you people are hateful! i do agree she should get a job, but that doesnt mean what she is doing is wrong. she is asking her community for help and all you heartless people can do is say mean and hurtful things. where is your compassion? atleast she is doing something good, i mean half of the idiots who dont recylce or know anything about it put hazordous materials in the trash every day. every little bit of recycling helps and if one person is doing it for their own benefit, they are actually helping with the environment as well.

Does this woman not realize how many people actually haul in junk batteries, junk cars, iron, scrap metal, etc. for a living. These people have to go out and find their "junk" not just have people donate it to them. Come on now if you are needing money that bad get a job. We aren't sitting here saying hey we can't pay our bills if you have any junk cars or batteries please donate them to us so we can have lights or a roof over our head. We work for what we get, rain or shine constantly looking for, buying then selling our "junk". You have got to work for what you want and need...key word..WORK
Well, at least she's DOING something and not just asking for money. I don't have a battery to donate for her, but I will help her out with a cash donation if she will accept. I don't want her to lose her home! As I wouldn't want anybody to lose their home either. Maybe I have a mushy heart, but this is somebody I want to help.
I agree with Hi. she should get a job. She could find a job if she wanted one bad enough to save her home. We are all having money problems. We could all plaster our sob story on the news. But some of us have other things to do. Like work. Get a life and a job
she said she was let go from her job last year....so why hasnt she gotten another one....and dont try to say that one cant be found...where i work they are always hiring and there is plenty of overtime i have been there three years now and the work is not hard and they pay well so go to work and save your house yourself and i will do my own recycling
The coming depression is going to be brutal for a lot of folks. "Battery donations?" Give me a break! Try working at a job instead of panhandling for your home.
