A Wichita couple is hoping the community will help out so they don't end up losing their home. The house has been in Angela Jarvis' family for generations, but in less than a month it could be gone for good.

"That's what hurts the most. I'm not losing my home I'm losing our history," says Jarvis.

Her grandparents called the home in North Wichita their home back in 1950. They even started the city's first tortilla factory there. Jarvis herself moved in a few years back. That's when she found out there was big trouble.

The taxes on the property were way behind. She started paying them and was getting caught up but then lost her job. Now the house is in foreclosure and the county is set to sell it at auction on July 16th unless Jarvis comes up with $4,000.

But Jarvis has a unique idea that will hopefully save her from losing her family's little piece of history.

"Rather than going and asking for money I thought I'd do recycling for it to try to raise money," says Jarvis.

Jarvis has started a battery drive, asking anyone who has an extra car battery to donate it to her and she, in turn, can sell it to a recycling center.

Her goal is 800 used batteries, but so far, she hasn't had any luck.

"Not much honestly. I haven't had a whole lot yet," says Jarvis.

Now there's only two weeks to go until the house will no longer be hers. If anyone is interested in helping out they can e-mail Jarvis at battery_drive08@yahoo.com.
