Nov.24-The man critically injured in a gas blast when his house exploded last week is speaking out and he's only talking to KAKE.
Fire officials say Gary Chadic is lucky to be alive
But he says he has lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
Gary Chadic's family had moved into it's new home just two months ago.
Lighting the pilot lights was one of the few remaining chores...a chore that turned explosive.
Chadic says it kind of threw him for a loop and threw him to the ground.
The force of the explosion blew out every window in the home and left Chadic dazed and in shock.
The blast was so intense it blew one of the Chadic's dogs, Jersey, clear of the house.
Chadic says the disaster gives this Thanksgiving special meaning. The Chadics lost everything in the blaze.
But, the community helped provide emergency supplies and school children Chadic works with as part of his fundraising business have sent a mountain of cards.
