Kansas may be turning 142 years old today, but
throngs of students are keeping the capitol building young.
To help celebrate Kansas Day today, students are touring the
statehouse and learning about government.
Governor Sebelius invited a third-grade class from Topeka's
Assumption School to sing happy birthday and eat cake.
The students wore lots of denim, plaid and bandanas instead of
their normal uniforms.
Representatives began their session by singing the official
state song: "Home on the Range."
After the Senate's session today, they'll listen to a portrayal
of Captain William Clark, of the Lewis and Clark expedition.
