UPDATE: Thursday, October 11, 2012
Wichita Police have released additional details in an overnight crash that left two people critically injured.
At about 1:20 a.m. Thursday, a small red station wagon was southbound on Broadway when it crossed the center line and struck a utility pole at 31st Street South.
Police say the the car hit the pole so hard that it moved a foot within the ground, and snapped.
Three people inside the station wagon were hurt, two critically. The back seat passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown through the front windshield. Police say that indicates extreme speed, in an area where the posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour.
The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not seriously hurt.
Police are investigating if alcohol played a role in the crash.
