It has been about three years since we last saw Steve Relford tell the harrowing story of how he saw his mother murdered by BTK.
It has been a tough road for Relford, who now admits he has an alcohol problem. It took three years and several people to convince Steve he needed to enter a rehabilitation center.
The step is a big one for Relford; it is the first time he has made any attempt to quit drinking since he started 30 years ago.
He says he probably began drinking when he was seven years old - two years after he watched through a crack in a door as his mother was murdered by BTK.
Wayne Castor is the father of Relford's girlfriend and has been part of a support system Relford desperately needs.
Castor says, "From what he's told me, he really hasn't had any successful or long term counsling sessions especially when he was young."
Relford wants to quit drinking, get better, forgive himself for letting BTK into his boyhood home and forgive God for his mother's murder.
Relford wants to chronicle his experience, hoping it will convince others to seek help. KAKE will do periodic updates with Relford on his recovery.
