Neil Young visited Wichita to make a modern statement on energy efficiency by getting his hot-rod Lincoln radically changed.

Young said he wants to help find energy solutions which are more efficient with less pollution.

"It's a problem for the security of the country and it's a problem for a lot
of things. So this is something I can do. I had an idea to try it. Luckily I met Jonathan and the people here and we're working on it," Young said.

He was referring to Jonathan Goodwin, owner of the H-Line conversions. Goodwin has modified several cars for celebrities, making them more powerful and more efficient.

The conversion system will actually be able to generate electricity while driving.

Before, the hot-rod Lincoln only got nine miles per gallon. After the conversion, more than 100 miles per gallon.

Young's plans include more than converting just his car.

"The plans we have is to first develop our technology. Johnathan has a great
business of converting big cars to efficient technology. And we want to do
that," Young said.

When the car is finished Neil wants to drive it to Washington, D.C. to show
our nation's leaders that cars indeed can be made more efficient.
