Kansas' own war hero, Senator Bob Dole, made a special stop in Wichita for a veterans visit.

Dole was in town celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Veterans Regional Medical Center, which was recently renamed in his honor.

The former U.S. Senator from Russell, who became one of the most powerful leaders in the senate came to say thank you.

Dole, along with several Kansas leaders, spoke to hundreds of veterans and staff as they celebrated the hospital's 75th anniversary.

The most recent study ranks the Robert Dole VA Regional Medical Center third in the nation.
