Now that we're in mowing and gardening season, it's also a good time to eliminate places around your house where crooks can hide.

Bushes, trees and shrubbery can conceal an intruder attempting to come into your home through a window or door. Worse yet, they could wait and hide for the homeowner.

A few alterations to the home's landscaping can be enough to discourage intruders.

To avoid being seen or caught, intruders look for property they can enter and exit quickly.

The ideal target is a home surrounded by large bushes or shrubs, which hamper visibility from the street and neighboring homes.

So, keep those bushes trimmed below the level of any windows and consider security lighting in and around your landscaping. A little bit of work can save you a trouble.
