The new owner of the Future Beef processing plant in Arkansas City says it will start hiring next month.
Creekstone Farms Premium Beef of Louisville, Kentucky, announced that cooking operations at the plant will start by April. And the company hopes to have the first 500 employees in place by May, when the full slaughter and processing plant resumes.
Creekstone Farms expects to close on the deal tomorrow.
Chief executive John Stewart says the plant will process its black Angus beef products that have been developed under its genetics.
The Future Beef plant in Arkansas City closed in August, when the Parker, Colorado-based company filed for Chapter seven liquidation. About 900 people lost their jobs.
