Republican Rep. Ted Powers, a veteran
lawmaker from Mulvane, has suffered a stroke, the House speaker's
office says.

He is in Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Spokeswoman Maria Loving said Powers was listed in "critical"
condition but couldn't provide any additional information about
him.

Powers, 73, has served in the House since 1993 and filed Feb. 4
for re-election.
