Allegiant Air announced Thursday it will end its scheduled service between Wichita and Orlando.
The carrier’s last day of service to the Orlando-Sanford area will be July 7, 2008. Customers with reservations July 11 and beyond will be contacted directly by Allegiant for reaccommodation.
“Unfortunately, due to escalating fuel costs, we will end our Orlando service from Wichita,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Allegiant Air president and CEO, said. “We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers. We greatly appreciate the support the community and the airport’s management team continue to show us. Our flights to Las Vegas remain unaffected by this announcement.”
Allegiant began low-cost service from Wichita Mid-Continent Airport with nonstop flights to Las Vegas Feb. 27, 2003. Flights to Orlando Sanford International Airport began May 22, 2007.
