BTK Prison Rights Hearing Set For Weds.

Dennis Rader's journey to justice continues with a hearing Wednesday.
It'll be at the El Dorado Prison facility where Rader's currently serving ten life sentences for ten murders.
Among other things, the hearing is about whether or not Rader will face tighter restrictions than what's already spelled out in the inmate rule book... Particularly in what media he's allowed to see.
Under the obscenity section of the rule book it states no inmate shall have in possession any obscene writing, pictures, items or devices.
But the District Attorney will be asking for an even tighter rein on what Rader can get his hands on because of his past.
D.A. Nola Foulston says, "Left to his own devices Mr. Rader creates pornography. He creates sexual papers and documents."
It was shown in court Rader would collect otherwise normal print ads and with his own drawing make them pornographic to feed his sexual fantasies.
Some say these rules are enough and the hearing is unnecessary.
Defense Attorney Warner Eisenbise says, "They're quite sufficient on their own. And the KDOC is quite prepared and has everything it needs in the form of rules and regulations etc.
In the end he says it'll be up to the Department of Corrections how restrictive they'll be on Rader... not the judge.
Foulston says, "I think it's for the safety and protection of the public "
But, Eisenbise says it's much ado about nothing.
Foulston says Rader will have the opportunity to write letters, which are typically censored by the prison.
But he won't have the same privileges those outside prison have.
And Wednesday we'll see if he gets even fewer privileges than others inside prison have.
