Wichita Opera

Classical music fans in Wichita had another chance to hear one of the greats of the opera world.

In April, Luciano Pavarotti performed in a benefit for the Wichita Grand Opera at the Kansas Coliseum. Saturday's concert at Century II Convention Hall featured Placido Domingo.

The Wichita concert was a bit of a departure for Domingo. He is the artistic director for the Los Angeles Opera and the Washington Opera in Washington, D.C. He performs leading roles with both companies.

His Saturday program featured Christmas music. Domingo says that in the past, he has only performed Christmas songs in Vienna, Austria.

A black-tie dinner and dance followed the concert.
