A 44-year-old man with Down syndrome was treated at a Wichita hospital after being beaten by his 37-year-old stepfather.
Wichita police were called to the 300 block of South Meadowhaven Street just before 9 p.m. Friday, after the victim's brother made the report of abuse.
Sgt. Scott Brunow says the victim had sustained several broken toes on both feet and a broken finger from being hit with a hammer and a pair of pliers. He also had bruising and bleeding near his ear from being punched.
The victim was taken to Wesley Hospital by his 41-year-old brother.
The stepfather was booked for aggravated battery. Jail records indicate Motoharu Takeda was booked into the Sedgwick County Detention Center for aggravated battery and domestic violence charges.
