ABUSED PUPPY DIES

Aug. 6

It's a case that has captured the attention of Kansans.

A puppy was intentionally burned, bones broken..then left for dead in a dumpster.

His pain is now over.

Veterinarians and technicians believed the only chance Magnum, the puppy, had for survival was to take him to a 24-hour care facility in Kansas City.

But it wasn't enough.

Magnum died Saturday morning.

During his short life Magnum touched the hearts of all those who know his story.

Found in a garbage dumpster, tied up with wire, disfiguring chemical burns over most of his body, the brave little puppy never lost his love for people.

At Heartland Animal Hospital where Magnum was first treated, they've been swamped with calls and cards wishing him a speedy recovery.

They've also received more than $2,000 in donations that will be given to local animal shelters.

Doctor Breault and his staff gave Magnum the best of care, but Magnum's injuries were too extensive so he was taken to an intensive care facility in Kansas City where, sadly, he died early Saturday morning.

Now that Magnum is gone, people like Carson of 105.3 The Buzz Radio are getting the word out.

Her goal is to urge lawmakers to stand up and speak out for those who can't speak for themselves and pass Scruffy's law.

That law would make animal cruelty a felony, instead of a misdemeanor.
