Meals On Wheels Cuts Back

Today the Department Of Aging announces it will cut about 31,000 deliveries from its Meals On Wheels program statewide. 13,000 of those cuts will take place in Wichita.

People who deliver for Meals On Wheels say it's not just a job. Their deliveries give homebound people their only contact to the outside world. The cuts mean about 50 Wichitans will no longer be able to receive the Meals On Wheels service.

Organizers will have to make the decision by the end of year on who to cut. But they're already looking for a way to make up for the cuts with some extra fundraising in the spring. Some additional donations will keep them from having to limit their services to those who need it.
