Via Christi CEO Randy Nyp says the restructuring of the medical centers is in response to the challenges facing health care facilities today. Each campus will have a chief operating officer with financial goals and targets to meet. "The restructuring is not complete but there could be some positions that end up not having a future role similar to what we have just experienced", said Nyp.
The restructuring meant the elimination of two vice president's positions a couple of weeks ago.
Nyp says there are no current plans for layoffs. Nyp added one area of concern for Via Christi continues to be a shortage of nurses.
