Three years after BTK is arrested for the brutal murders spanning decades, a documentary is released from Charlie Otero's point of view.
The film called, "The Assumption, Otero Family Murders", premiered at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Wichita Monday night.
The director of the film, along with a camera crew, followed Charlie Otero from December of 2004 through the conviction of Dennis Rader.
BTK murdered Otero's mother, father, brother and sister in 1974. The family was his first victims. Otero was the one that found his family murdered.
Of the documentary Otero says, "It's a very realistic view. There's no acting, no scripting, it's how it went down and how I am."
Hundreds of people came to the Orpheum to see the film. Renee Hearn says, "I was a senior in high school. It had a huge impression on me. I wanted to come and support Charlie and the victims."
The proceeds from ticket sales will go to the surviving victim's family members.
The film will be shown at different film festivals across the country and around the world over the next few months.
