The National Socialist Movement could be coming to Wichita to protest the Carr brothers' murder trial. The controversial group is asking the city for a protest permit.

Last summer, leaders of the National Socialist Movement met in Topeka to protest the Carr trial. They believe the five murders should be classified as hate crimes because the Carr brothers are black and the victims were white. The group says the Carr brothers should be put to death.

The national socialist movement has asked the city for permits to rally at Riverside Park and downtown Wichita on Dec. 15, the anniversary of the Carr brothers' crimes.

NAACP leaders say they will hold a counter rally if the national socialist movement comes to Wichita.

The Wichita Police Department confirms the group is asking for a permit to protest. If the group does come to Wichita, police say they will monitor the event.

City leaders have yet to decide if the group should be allowed a formal protest.
