Four Wichita men were burned early Tuesday morning in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike.

Emergency crews were called to mile marker 54 1/2 just north of the east Wichita exit on the Turnpike just after 1:00 Tuesday morning after getting reports of a semi-truck on fire.

When Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers arrived they found the semi had been involved in a crash with a SUV that was hauling another SUV on a trailer.

Troopers say it appears the SUV's trailer blew a tire and while the SUV was driving at a slower speed the semi hit it from behind.

During the crash the truck's passenger side saddle mount fuel tank ruptured causing fuel to spill and catch fire.

Four people in the SUV suffered serious burns and were taken to a local hospital. The victims have been identified as;

Antonio Ramos, 32, in critical condition.
Jose Aguayo-Carillo, 47, in fair condition.
Efren Martinez, 45, in fair condition.
Hector Martinez, 26, in fair condition.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.
