October 7 - Investigators are still waiting for autopsy results before releasing how 43 year old Carol Mould was killed, but the investigation is moving forward.

It's a crime that shook the small Benton community. Today deputies literally hit the streets to try and track down her killer.

"We want to catch this guy."

It's been two weeks since the body of Carol Mould was found badly burned inside her Benton home. On Wednesday deputies took to the highway in hopes of learning more about how and why the mother of three was murdered.

"The deputies came down and stopped traffic in both directions," said Undersheriff Roy Raney of Butler County.

From noon till two on Wednesday deputies stopped traffic along highway 254. It was during that same time period on September 22 when investigators believe Carol Mould was murdered.

When officers arrived, there were two separate fires blazing in the home, one in the garage the other in the living room where Mould's body was found. It was possibly a failed attempt to try and cover up the crime. Investigators hope someone driving by could lead investigators to the person responsible for taking Carol Mould's life.

"Whether they were driving by that day or they heard something they would like for us to know about, if they could call," says Raney.

Those numbers to call are 1-800-KS-CRIME or you can call the Butler County sheriff's department at 316-322-4257.
