On Hatteberg's People, if you are a bow hunter or an outdoorsman of any kind you will want to meet Heath Getty of St. John, Kansas. He has the 'gift'. Because when he shoots with a bow and arrow his accuracy is amazing...and he may be on the ground floor of a brand new sport.

"Basically what I'm going to do is that I'm going to take a clay pigeon and put it on my shoe and kick it up the air and try to draw down and shoot it."

"And that's how you do it."

On the Western Kansas plains in St. John in Stafford County, 26 year old Heath Getty is becoming something of a legend. Growing up on farm, his dad knew early-on that Heath's hand/eye coordination was something special.

"I'd take him out to shoot 22's and the barrel was so long and heavy he couldn't hardly balance the gun but when he pulled the trigger, the target went down."

"I'm going to toss this quarter up in the air and shoot it."

So, on a field near St. John, on a windy Kansas day Heath did just want he said he would do. The quarters all bear the scars of the bullet.

"The harder it is, the more fun it is, I think!"

So he took up another challenge. Heath and his brother were shooting clays with a pistol for fun, but then Heath had an idea.

"And I thought, well I might be able to do it with my bow. And I ended up pulling it off, and then I kind of went crazy with it."

"Basically seeing that arrow fly up and hit something and see the arrow chase after it, like the arrow blowing through the clay, I just think it is neat to watch."

"I just keep challenging myself more and more after I hit something difficult I'll go on to something a little bit harder."

The world is noticing. In the last two weeks, a German video crew spent two days with Heath taping a segment for a national show to be shown on German Television. Terry Spradley with the St. John Newspaper took these photos. Now about Heath's bow.

"This is a Holt carbon matrix, it's actually their 2010 model, this is all made out of carbon fiber."

And how about the tension, the pull?

"So it's only 70 pounds for not quite the full draw, it's only about half, and then it breaks over."

"It's a great feeling, there's pretty much nothing better than that. You can't ask for anything better."

For Heath, this is the joy. Whether it's a golf ball, or a quarter or clay pigeons...Heath knows he's perhaps on the cusp of a new sport. Now, he doesn't get a hit every time...especially in the Kansas wind...but on average, this young man is pretty hard to bet against.

"Just like that."

"I'm always happy to go out and shoot stuff."

"It's my favorite thing to do."

In St. John, on the days we picked to shoot...this was the wind....any hunter knows how the wind affects the arrow, take a look at Heath's shirt...and while he didn't hit every time...hitting one at all seemed like a miracle.

"I basically live for that, there is pretty much nothing better."
