On Hatteberg's People, this is a simple story, but one worth telling because the woman involved is one of those upbeat members of the older generation who is ageless. Lenora Graham of Florence helps the elderly....and it doesn't matter the weather....
"I have a chicken on my plate and I have chicken all round my kitchen."
She does! Everywhere around her kitchen, she is the quintessential grandmother. A kitchen with not a spoon out of place. In the past, a life with a good man, now gone....and over the years growing from that girl, to a family with two adopted boys to a life now that continues to serve.
Lenora's visiting takes place at Marion's Sr. Center. That's where she drives once a week. Here, she visits, but can't stay long.
"There is a lot of camaraderie there."
In the kitchen the cooks are in gear preparing the plates for Meals on Wheels. Lenora isn't here to partake. You see....she delivers them. Oh yeah, Lenora's age.....90!
"I have been delivering meals for about 25 years."
That's right! Ninety years old and delivering meals to the elderly.
"I'm just blessed that I can still get around and be active."
