Larry Hatteberg revisited a story from 1999 - Grover Beaman.
He never called any place home for long, but for a time he lived in Old Town.
"You ask a guy why he got into the fertilizer business. He said because there was money in it. I've never heard an artist say I got into art because I heard there was big money in it," said Beaman.
In the heart of Old Town and in the middle of his life, artist Grover Beaman has come home.
"Thank God I'm still left over from the '60's. I kinda went a lot of places but without return tickets. So it took me 37 years to get back here. I draw from imagination, pure imagination. In Old Town itself is like of like the heart of hearts. And of course the 'oldness' great lines and textures, just all kind of stuff in here. It reminded me of a little bit of New Orleans, a little bit of San Francisco. It's like where East meets West."
