We get a lot of questions about former KAKE personalities. For example, many ask about Romper Room teachers and what they are doing now.

Miss Marti was the last of the popular Romper Room teachers. So what is Miss Marti doing now?

Good question.

Earlier this week, Marti Garlett and her husband Fred were passing through Wichita and stopped by KAKE to visit with old friends. Always interested in kids and teaching, Miss Marti says hosting Romper Room was a great boost to her career as an educator.

"I went on and got my Ph.D. and had interesting jobs after Romper Room in higher education."

Miss Marti was the last Romper Room host. The show ended its run on KAKE in 1986. Looking back, Miss Marti says being a part of the community and interacting with families who watched the program made Romper Room a huge success.

"The connection that that made to the TV station and everything else KAKE was doing as well as the outreach to the community made it a home town staple."

So what is Miss Marti doing today?

"What I'm doing now is living in Los Angeles County near the beach and having two little grandchildren near by and enjoying the slow non-winter pace of my life in California."
